Title: Expendables of Horror
Post by: Ted C on March 13, 2015, 10:43:17 AM
I would watch this. I would even contribute to a Kickstarter for it.

Bruce Campbell Is Still Planning 'Expendables' of Horror (http://www.movieweb.com/expendables-horror-movie-bruce-campbell-interview)

QuoteMore than five years ago, Bruce Campbell first floated the idea of making an Expendables of Horror that brought in all of his most famous genre friends to fight a single threat in one movie. He was planning it as a sequel to his 2008 horror comedy My Name Is Bruce, which found the cult icon essentially playing himself. The new movie was to be called Bruce Vs. Frankenstein, but we haven't heard much about it since then. Last year, he started talking about it again, though at the time, he said the script sucked. We asked Campbell if Bruce Vs. Frankenstein was still happening, and he revealed that he is still in the process of writing the script. He says:

"Yeah! Never say never. I have a script that I'm working on that would pretty much be that. It's not ready to share at this point. It's in the pipeline I guess you could say. I've always wanted to do the Expendables of Horror type movie. Because I always run into all my horror buddies at conventions. It would be fun to do a movie that pretty much has all of them in it."

Campbell first mentioned the idea of an Expendables of Horror way back in 2010, but the actor's Burn Notice TV schedule kept the project from happening. It may be awhile longer before we actually see it come to fruition, as the actor now has Ash Vs. Evil Dead happening at Starz, which will get 10 half-hour episodes.

I skimmed the article, but he really didn't say who the other members would be.   That I'm curious about.  Robert Engulnd?  Kane Hodder?  Its kind of telling that it seems we really don't have horror icons anymore.

Yeah, is there a single horror icon under 35?  The youngest one I can think of is Danielle Harris, who's 38, and she got into because she was in 80s horror films as a child.

I guess you could make a case for Chandler Riggs from Walking Dead, but nobody seems to like him.

I was thinking maybe the guys from the CW's Supernatural

You know, thinking about it-maybe I was unfair with my earlier post.  Part of the Expendables, is that many of the stars aren't the "spring chickens" they once were but they can still get the job done.  That the movies are a celebration of the kind of films they had done.

But that still leaves me wondering who would be in the Expendables of Horror movie, because thinking back to the horror icon films-people tend to remember the villains more than the heroes.  And the average movie goer might not recognize someone like Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees) without the mask.

Bruce Campbell, sure.  Tony Todd.  And considering how many villains he's voiced I think Tim Curry could make an appearance.

Oh...and Elvira could show up as well.

OK, now I'm starting to see how this could work.  Just needed to think about it for a minute.  I'm on board now if they decide to make this movie.
