There are some moments at work when you get a big wake-up call and you realize that you made the right choice choosing that career. I got one last week. :teddyr:
I had an email from a lady from the UK whose father is currently very ill: he was featured as an amateur tennis player in a SA newsreel from 1945 and his dying wish - he has cancer - was to see this again. He told his daughter it would be impossible to find and she contacted me.
Impossible to find? Challenge accepted. :teddyr:
I found the footage inside ten minutes and after breaking all - I mean ALL - the archive rules about having a film cool down after retrieval, etc, I had it at the lab and by midday, colleagues there had uploaded the video to Vimeo and he was able to see it.
Wow: my job is finally worth it. :teddyr:
well that is pretty awesome. good on yer!
That is great, Trev!
My job is so worth it now; I'm in an area where nobody really bothers me and I can work as fast or slow as I want, as long as I get the job done.. at times I can get away with not working at all. A former shift had me in a different ward where the boss always visited to chat with the nurses, and a crew in the operating rooms were worthless as all get out and ticked me off to no end. Not dealing with any of that nowadays!
That's pretty cool

It only hit me later that day what I had done: I hope I put a smile on her Dad's face.

*Cough*
I sometimes lock my door
at lunchtime and take a nap for a few minutes: no one's caught me yet.

Congratulations, Trevor! Good job!

Thanks: I was wondering the other day while we were on Christmas break if this lady's father is still alive. Even if he isn't, I'm sure I eased his way a little.
Brother Trevor, you have a good heart.
I'm sure the whole family is thankful for your speed and kindness.
