This was one of those "I've never heard of it" slasher films that shows up on the shelf at Hastings from time to time.
I rented it on a whim - the guy on the cover wearing a pig mask did look exceptionally creepy - and I'm glad I did!
This is a home invasion horror film along the lines of THE STRANGERS or YOU'RE NEXT. While it was not incredibly original,
it hit all the right notes and had some incredibly creepy moments.
Kylie is a high school girl who reluctantly agreed to perform a sex act on a classmate at a party, only to have his friends video the
whole encounter through the window and put it out on the internet. She is mocked, shamed, and bullied at school the next day,
and instead of going to the Halloween party she had planned she agrees to babysit two children at a remote country house. After
the kids are in bed, a little boy in a pig mask rings the doorbell for "Trick or Treat." But he is not alone! Two adults are waiting to
ambush Kylie when she opens the door, and from then on it is a very taut game of homicidal cat-and-mouse. I really liked this
one; it built a great sense of suspense throughout and Kylie was a very sympathetic protagonist.
And the pig masks were VERY creepy.
