Supermarket samples.....could be given out by a posing psycho.
Putting on shoes without first making sure there are no spiders in them.
Horses...they have such big teeth, y'know.
Knocking on the door to a room, and finding out nobody is the room.
Mirrors in a semi-dark place. (Been known to close my eyes walking past them.)
A TV left turned on when there's no input and the screen is black.
Being woken up by a ringing phone (even in daytime).
When one of my dogs starts looking at an empty space and growling.
Some of the bad dreams my kids have come in and told me about from time to time. And I'M supposed to be the one comforting them??? One was about a man with no face walking around downstairs!
This place on a deserted little road I have to use to come home on some nights. No one around, barely wide enough for two cars, it twists and turns, and there's this place you have to stop at a stop sign, and it'd be easy for someone to jump out from behind the trees and get you. Really creepy place, trust me!
Weird staticky voices coming in on my car radio when I'm driving on that road.
The title of the book A Stranger Is Watching.
The music to Unsolved Mysteries.
The smell of school clothes.
The words, "This won't hurt a bit."
People (neighbors, colleagues) talking in hushed and mumbling voices outside my door at home or at work. Drives me nuts.
Losing my way in a place I know well.
Phoning Mom and she doesn't answer. That scares the crap out of me.
A near miss of my almost new car by an idiot driver.
No escape in a situation or any place: I dream like that sometimes.
A call from an unknown number: that freaks me. Nine times out of ten it is a client but you could always get a call asking "Have you checked the children?"
Strangers being a little too friendly.
Walking into a room and having no idea why I went there.
People walking past my house at night.

I remember when it used to be static, that freaked me out. Thank you Poltergeist! It was always worse if that static station would pick up a distant TV station so you could get blurry images and sound.
Driving.
Patients trying to enter a ward I'm cleaning that has long been closed for the day.
Having to ask someone to turn down their loud-@$$ music/stop swearing/etc. in public.

I second the "dog growling at an empty space" thing. My dog would do that many years ago in our basement. He would stare at the corner and growl menacingly.
Hearing a noise just as I am about to drift off to sleep that convinces me someone is in the room with me.
When the house is too quiet. I end up on edge waiting for something to make a noise that I know is going to startle me.

Why do I have an image of the US military having their artillary replaced with underwear launching catapults?
Checking the mail. I have a mail phobia that used to be worse, like I wouldn't open the mail box for weeks and if I did I would stash letters unopened in my room for months.

I don't think those would work too well because of the back-splash, as opposed to the back blast. :buggedout:
waking up in the middle of the night and NOT hearing my husband snoring.
having to light the pilots on my work equipment.
hearing my storm door creak, and when i get up to answer the door there's no one there.

We had these on our old tub when I was growing up. I was always afraid if I ever slipped and fell in there I would land face first and gouge out one of my eyes on one of those things.
I've been playing the ultimate edition of Fallout New Vegas, trying to complete as many of the side quests as possible, I find the Cazador wasps to be annoying and a little bit scary at the same time, of course in the game they're giant mutant wasps.

Finding this on my morning walk last week was pretty startling, I haven't seen one of these in years. The one I saw was about as long as my thumb, just not quite as wide.

Right after posting this I went back to playing the game, walked out of a cave in Zion and was attacked by 2 of these wasps, the ones in the game, the real ones are actually not aggressive unless disturbed.
