Not fatal, but I did learn that Batman created a shark repellent spray. I think it smells like Andy Dick.
Hmmm... They would have had to have been an issue worthy of a movie, if they turned up in the pilot episode of Gilligan's Island & Rabbitson Crusoe...
At the beginning of THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME (1932) a boat crashes on a reef and the many of the crew get eaten up by sharks. There's some footage of sharks tearing something up in the water.
This was made by the same folks who made KING KONG the next year, so the sailors screams as the sharks attack were reused in KONG.
Several people get eaten up by sharks in the perils of the tuna fishermen saga TIGER SHARK (1932), including the heroine's dad. Edward G. Robinson gets a hand bitten off, too.
nice, didn't know about those

both these appear to be jokes but im either too young, too old, too dumb, or too English to get them!
I think some early James Bond films had shark attacks.
yep seems like there was one in Thunderball, which is pre-Jaws
also apparently The Spy Who Loved Me the character Jaws gets killed by a shark? ironic....
think I remember there being another one where either a girl or bond himself (or both) is dragged along behind a boat with a shark in persuit, but then the baddie driving the boat gets thrown to the shark instead. think this might be in For Your Eyes Only? not sure...
The 1969 film Shark directed by Samuel Fuller (starring Burt Reynolds) had one of its' stuntmen eaten by a shark :buggedout: :buggedout:
wow, looks like not only was that film re-named to Shark! as a result of that happening, but the whole marketing campaign based around it too... bit harsh?!

Edit: for some reason the exclamation mark onwards in that wiki address will not hotlink

Pretty sure a mook got eaten by a shark in
Thunderball.
There was also a shark tank in
Live and Let Die.
Jaws actually gave better than he got against the shark in
The Spy Who Loved Me.
For Your Eyes Only had the dragging people over coral to attract sharks (which actually occurred in the book
Live and Let Die).
Both
Thunderball and
Live and Let Die pre-date
Jaws.

That must have been where they got the idea for
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.
