Title: Blood and Glory (2016)
Post by: Trevor on April 04, 2016, 03:47:44 AM
AKA Modder en Bloed (Mud and Blood), this latest South African film tells the story of Boer prisoners on the island of St Helena who play a game of rugby against their British captors to score a few points of national pride against their oppressors.

Good movie, but does it sound familiar? It should as it seems to be a remake of the film Escape To Victory aka Victory (1981) starring Sylvester Stallone and Sir Michael Caine.

Blood and Glory: prisoners in a POW camp run by the British play rugby to score victories over their masters.

Escape To Victory: prisoners in a POW camp run by the Nazis play soccer to score victories over their masters.

I rest my case, your Honor.  :teddyr:

It's good that they chose rugby. If they chose cricket, it's likely they'd still be there.
