Title: Probably getting laid off.
Post by: sprite75 on April 19, 2016, 08:20:34 AM
I found out yesterday that my position is being eliminated and that if I can't find a new job internally my last day will be May 2nd.  Ugh.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Trying to work and attend your first year of law school at the same time has a low success rate. If you're willing to go into debt, student loans can get you by your first year. In your second + years you can get a job as a law clerk that will dovetail with your studies. I even found part time legal work as a 1L, helping to sift through evidence for a huge criminal case.

Sorry to hear that man.  I mean, like a job or not, getting fired is never easy.  I hope it all works out okay for you.

Sorry to hear that.  I've definitely been down that road before numerous times.  Best of luck getting back on your feet.

It's sort of nice to know your getting laid off... when I got laid off it happen on cyber Monday... Which really sucked because if I had known that I would had shopped on Black Friday a little more wiser.

I was in the process of buying a new car.  Nothing majorly wrong with mine, just felt it was time to get into something newer.  I had put down a deposit last week Saturday so that the dealer here in Iowa could go ahead and do a dealer trade with a Michigan dealer that pretty much had the 2017 Volt I wanted, right down to the color.  Then come Monday morning I found out about my upcoming job loss.  f**k.  At least they told me before I completed the purchase.  The dealer hadn't started the trade process yet so they didn't have to cancel anything, and they refunded my deposit.

Hopefully I can find something before too long, in time for me to get in to a Chevy Bolt when they come out later this year.

I was informed this evening that another group at work wants to speak to me tomorrow.  Hopefully I'll do well enough in the interview that they'll take me on and I can make it out to my 10th anniversary.

Well it sounds like I'll be staying with my current company a bit longer.  The group I was talking about Friday is in the process of bringing me on board now.

Great news... but maybe it's also a sign for you to look for a new job and leave on your terms :)

Not for a while though.  I want to get to my 10th anniversary at work.
