Title: A Trip to the Moon (1902)
Post by: Skull on September 01, 2016, 02:12:29 PM

For those not familiar with the story. This is the movie that the moon (or pizza face looking object) is shot in the eye with a bullet looking rocket ship.

Today is the anniversary of Georges Méliès science fiction/comedy. And if you never saw the silent movie please sit back and spend 15 minutes. Then think how far we had come.

There is a colorized version that was painted by hand and found recently in a barn in France. This is also the most complete version of the story because it was assumed to be lost (or the film was mostly lost) in the 1920's.

the story was also remade in 1908

Georges Méliès also made The Astronomers Dream (1898). There are a good number of similarities between Dream and Moon which leads me to believe that A Trip to the Moon was part 2 of The Astronomers Dream.
