Title: f**k. My iPhone 6 Plus has touch disease
Post by: sprite75 on November 23, 2016, 11:05:08 AM
I've been having problems lately with my iPhone 6 becoming less and less responsive to touch.  And yesterday it showed the grey bar on the top of the screen.

f**k.  I was hoping the phone would hold out until the iPhone 8 came out.

I have Apple Care so I'm going to see if they can do anything about my phone.  If they think I'm going to pay the $149 to have the problem fixed then fornicate them.  I might (and I never thought I'd say this) get an Android then.

Do you have a plastic shield on the touch pad?

My daughter was having touch issues with her DS. It took me a while to figure but there was something under the plastic shield which confused the touching. I'd lifted the shield and wipe the screen and replaced the shield but the north side was south. (I'm you can do turn the shield 180 turn on the Iphone shield because they sometimes have a holes in them - so you might have to replace the plastic shield.)

I hope this helps :)

Nope, no plastic shield on the top.  They asked me about it too.  I never liked putting a plastic shield on top cause it seemed to interfere with the touch and wore out too fast.

Got some good news though.  I talked to Apple and since I have Apple Care+ they're going to send me a replacement phone for free.  I don't even have to pay the $29 they would normally charge.  I just had to let them put a hold on my card that will get released once they get the original back.

So now I can go back to my original plan of waiting until the 8 comes out before upgrading.  I wasn't too keen on upgrading to the 7 since it basically appeared to be the same phone as the 6.

Apple Care pretty much paid for itself today.

I was going to suggest that you wipe them with a pair of my undies I can send you but that would kill the phone instantly.  :buggedout:

No thank you.  I did get the replacement today and got that all set up now, so the broken phone is on its way back to Apple now.  Hopefully that will be set for another year of use.

I pretty much know what happened.  There are two IC chips on my original phone that handled the touch interface that had come loose over time.
