I came back from two Walmart's in my area and they are having a big sale on Anchor Bay VHS tapes, all for only $3.33! Most of these titles I've seen going for $9.99-$14.95, so $3 brand new is a great deal. I picked up:
"EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN"
"REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS"
"ALICE SWEET ALICE"(Special Collector's Edition)
"FEAR CITY"
They also had "HELL NIGHT", "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD", DAWN OF THE DEAD", "THE KILLING OF A CHINESE BOOKIE", "FADE TO BLACK", "PROM NIGHT", "EVIL DEAD", "ARMY OF DARKNESS", and a bunch of the half hour 'Hammer Special' VHS tapes, and some others. Has anyone had any luck finding this special sale on the Anchor Bay VHS tapes at their local Walmart? If so, what titles did your store's have? I was looking for "TORSO", "AUTOPSY", "MADMAN", and "DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING", but I had no luck finding those, has anyone seen these titles for cheap? I'm interested in hearing about any special sales you may have found, are any stores marking down the Anchor Bay VHS titles?
Great deal you got there,Rich! All those are really choice titles(although I'm no big fan of "Hell Night" or "Alice,Sweet,Alice"[despite enjoying the surrealistic, and highly entertaining works of "Alice" director Albert Sole's relative,Dante Tomaselli, one dude that really rocks]but they're old school movies that are worth buying anyway, for the all-too-cool time period sakes),and worth stocking in your video collection.
Anything released by Anchor Bay video is definitely a must-have in anyone's massively growing video collection.
Careful, I've heard AB is sending the stores a lot of defective merchandise, but that probably applies more to the discs than the tapes. I'm still going to check out the local Wally World post haste.
Try checking K-Mart too...I got the DJANGO two disc set for 6.99.
I just picked up The Devonsville Terror and Shock by Mario Bava from mine about 2 days ago. The Night of the Living Dead that they had was not the one sent out by Anchor Bay. They also have a sheeot load of Godzilla Versus tapes as well. I have heard the reason why they are being sold so cheap is because AB has lost the rights to a lot of their titles and they are just trying to clean house. I don't give a rats arse just so long as I get the deals. LoL

>the half hour 'Hammer Special' VHS tapes
What are these? Episodes of the Hammer anthology TV show?
The Hammer videos are a special series of videos, each one centers on a certain aspect of the Hammer films. One is devoted to Hammer's Dracula films, another to Hammer's Frankenstein films, one is a tribute to Peter Cushing, and so on, they are all narrated by the late, great, Oliver Reed, they all include clips of Hammer films, and they are each about a half hour.
Ok, thanks for the explanation.
