I like lighthouses, but this sounds like a lot of work.
When I was younger a lighthouse keeper sounded like a dream job to me. Lots of time to read and not a lot of people to bother me. Shame they tend to be automated now.
I'm with you guys, lighthouses are awesome. Trouble is they let people know you're there instead of allowing you blend in. We actually have a scaled down lighthouse we bought for the children at the same place that sold their backyard playset. I saw it, I wanted it. Perhaps my favorite Tom Baker-era episode of Doctor Who influenced my love of them.
