I was talking with my old friend RCMerchant (BELA) tonight and mentioned that I wanted to start a thread about Westerns I like... and he encouraged me to do so, SO, here 'tis. What five WESTERNS do you like, or, LOVE?
Here are mine:
MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (1946)
THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY (1966)
STAGECOACH (1939)
THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE (1962)
SHANE (1953)
The Hellions (the first African Western)
Ride The High Country
High Noon
The Magnificent Seven (both versions)
The Wild Bunch
When I think favorite Western, I think Leone and/or Eastwood. I'm going with my favorites, not looking for variety.
THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST
FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
UNFORGIVEN
DEAD MAN
I wish Sony would release The Hellions on DVD.
Silverado
Big Jake
Pale Rider
The Magnificent Seven (original)
Unforgiven
Blazing Saddles
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Wild Bunch
Heaven's Gate
For A Fistful Of Dollars
For A Few Dollars More
The Good, The Bad And the Ugly
The Three Amigos
Blazing Saddles
I see that my very favorite-the GOOD,THE BAD AND THE UGLY gets alot of play!
I would also, like many others, list the WILD BUNCH.
Also-
.PAT GARRET AND BILLY THE KID (1973)
.the ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD (2007)-see-? I like some more recent films!
.the OUTLAW JOSEY WALES (1976)
A shout out to-
.A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS (1964)
.FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE (1965)
.ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1968)
.the MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE (1962)
.CRY BLOOD,APACHE (1970)
.CUT -THROATS NINE (1972)

Oh-and I have a soft spot (some would say in my head) for anything with Hopalong Cassidy.
The Long Riders
High Plains Drifter
The Searchers
Dead Birds
The Burrowers
Last two might be a bight cheaty since they're mixed genre (horror western).
A Fistful of Dollars
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
They call me Trinity
The Good, the Bad and the Weird
Young Guns
But honestly...the list could go on and on.

honorable mentions: The Searchers (I've only seen this once but I really liked it), For a Few Dollars More, 3:10 to Yuma remake, For a Fist Full of a Dollars, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight
I'm not really a Westerns kind of guy, but there have been some Westerns I've enjoyed:
Silverado
The Quick and the Dead (Sharon Stone)
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Blazing Saddles
Desperado (which isn't really a Western, is it?)
TOMBSTONE
HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER
OUTLAW JOSEY WALES
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST
THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY
There are more that I love but I can only pick 5.
For a Fistful of Dollars
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Unforgiven
Blazing Saddles
And
... Logan. (Grins)

Nice to see you around
ZAP.
having been a long time western fan (books, TV and movies) I find it pretty hard making a choice of only five best westerns, but here is my shot at it (not in any order);
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,
Shane,
Ulzana's Raid,
Unforgiven, and
Once Upon a Time in the West.
Honourable mentions; The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, High Noon, Valdez is Coming, Stagecoach, The Searchers, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, to name just a few.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Once Upon a Time in the West
A Fistful of Dollars
The Outlaw Josey Wales
True Grit (Either Version)
