We ain't done the listing thing in a while-and it's fun. Some movies I couldn't imagine without the soundtrack. Some movies-(like DEEP RED) are so much better with the soundtrack. I couldn't imagine HALLOWEEN (1978) without that music!

4. EXORCIST- Mike Oldfield
5. MANOS, THE HANDS OF FATE
I actually like this soundtrack. I'm not joking. It's much more competent than the underlying movie, "Torgo's Theme" is a true earworm, and this song has terrible lyrics ("Forgetting you/Is a thing I cannot do/Yet I know it is very true/I'm forgetting you...") but a wonderful melody:

Even though Stanley Kubrick used no original music (he decided not to go with the soundtrack MGM commissioned from Alex North, which is actually pretty good), the classical music selections he made are absolutely perfect and all instantly iconic.

14. AMADEUS (1984)
Again, not original music, but perfectly integrated into the story. This scene is brilliantly done (Salieri wrote a march to honor Mozart, and he sits down at the piano to play it):

19. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.
! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vkiR6qSIrw#)
Genuinely one of the most underrated movie soundtracks I think i've ever heard. Its just so profoundly bleak sounding and foreboding. and then to play off that darkness the Silver shamrock jingle is so upbeat and throwaway; yet at the same time so utterly memorable. I know people who hate this movie; Hell even people who've never seen this movie who still know "That song that goes "Happy happy halloween halloween halloween happy happy halloween silver shamrock!" Its one of the few movie scores I genuinely love to have on Vinyl. it's totally unique
20. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1946)
! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aUKrOMrtPk#)
Per the director the music was written separately and not synchronized to the action they way it usually would be. Yet it works.

Absolute stone cold classic, I own it on download, Vinyl and CD (Along side the film in about half a dozen cuts) a folk masterpiece with a history almost as interesting as the films production itself...mezmorising sounds I will happily say hand on heart that this one one of my all time favourite movie soundtracks ever put to magnetic tape. :)

Not the Tinto brass soundtrack most would be expecting! composed by Pino Donaggio probably best known for his compositions on Carrie. I personally find this OST definately underrate. whereas most would fall back on Caligula (And I will admit the disco version of "We are one" is tremendous) this is an energetic, fun and fitting soundtrack to a genuinely quite enjoyable and challenging film :) Beautiful cinematogrpahy and compositions make this one a must see in my opinion. :)

Morris died just a few days ago at the ripe old age of 91.
