I'm going to call this a good movie. I wouldn't even mind seeing a good remake. Anyone else like it? I admit it was.... Odd. That's half the reason I call it good.

I liked it. I wouldn't call it a BAD "bad" movie-but it's kinda cheesy-in a good way!
Lotsa screaming! "AN-NAAA!" :bouncegiggle:

It's NOT a good movie. But it is FUN. It's truly terrible. I've seen it at least 3 or 4 times.
Actually I liked it at the ending. Technology and science so. Often gets portrayed as the bad guy in a lot of stories. (Good God how they ruined the end of battlestar galactica with that awful ending...)
Magic, spiritualism and so on usually gets portrayed as good and pure and noble somehow.
In this case the spiritual magic power was the evil , and even the good spiritual guy failed to stop him.
But in the end it was the power of technology and science that, when roused, defeated the evil magic fprces.
I liked it for that.
Huh? I remember the possessed woman (SUSAN STRASBERG playing a stated age of, like, "29") fought off the evil spirit (that had climbed out of her back). Ech. :bouncegiggle: You need to read the founder of this site's review of THE MANITOU :
http://www.badmovies.org/movies/manitou/ (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/manitou/)
I liked when the hospital floor froze... and the nurse! :teddyr: :bouncegiggle:
Starring TONY CURTIS also on the skids with SUSAN STRASBERG. And a hell of a cast BURGESS MEREDITH MICHAEL ANSARRA ANN SOTHERN STELLA STEVENS all glad to get the work, presumably. PAUL MANTEE is in there!!!
It's movies like THE MANITOU that inspire BAD MOVIE LOVERS to create websites like this one. THE MANITOU is so wonderfully terrible, it's one of my favorite rotten movies.

Yes, they tried to use the power of 'white man'' machines against the evil shaman but the aboriginal medicine man couldn't get them to obey him, but the machines apparently chose to resuscitate the dead white woman and use her as a focus to attack the manitou.
I took it to. Mean the machines we're creations of science and the manitou was a creature magic, they saw it as an enemy to stop from destroying their world.

Then, the machines "manitous" did understand the pleas of mortal men...? And besides, the possessed did shoot lightening bolts out of her hands. Perhaps that is science, too. We'll have to ask Ulthar, our resident scientist.
You took what too...? The Kool-Aid?
"We're" is a contraction of we are.
My tablet refuses. To type w e r e as anything but we're. It adds the ' every single time I type w e r e. It won't stop doing it and sometimes I just look at it and said ''Xxxx you, i'm.not goibg back to fix it.'' Get it?
Science and magic are all one of the same thing-what is the magic of today is the science of tommorrow!
Yikes! :twirl:

The next time I see this goofy ass movie I will think of this conversation! :drink:
When it was released in South Africa, visitors to the premiere screening had their invitations printed on a bag which could also be used as a barf bag. :buggedout:
I posted a Dead Kennedys video when I was trying to post this!

It cost me 10 cents.

Cool. Except for you, that must be a drag.
My favorite part of
THE MANITOU is when Mrs. Hertz goes for a float down the hall. You get a glimpse at the beginning of this trailer.
"SUSAN STRASBERG living in a nightmare..." (with all of us).

Someone filmed the whole freakin' thing from a broadcast. It's like looking at the thing on TV from the worst seat in the room :

This film has an interesting soundtrack, too! Elbow to elbow on the list of soundtracks, this'd fit right in.
It also has the longest-ass credits in badmovie filmdom.
And it's right at the very beginning: A doctor states the patient with the shaman growing on her back is
"28 years of age".
Oh bah-ruther.
SUSAN STRASBERG was 40.
"It kind of moves sometimes... like someone shifting trying to get comfortable in bed..." :bouncegiggle:
I love
THE MANITOU.
Susan Strasberg is really pretty, Scream of Fear is awesome. the Manitou... not so much

The special effects (especially at the end) are laughably awful (which is one of the reasons I bought the DVD). Read the book. It isn't great, but it's a lot better than the movie.
