If ya ain't lived out East-like in the Tri-State NY area- you might have no clue who Joe Franklin is.
He had his own local Channel 9 talk show forever.
This f**king show ran from 1950, until 1993.
It was the coolest talk show ever.
He had famous movie stars, washed up movies stars, upcoming horror movie directors, he had the f**king the Ramones- and he had lotsa s**t like this. He had everybody and anybody. And he had Trivian Contests on air- where some expert asks Joe Franklin about some obscure movie s**t...and Joe f**king Franklin knows everything.
The best talk show ever! :drink:
I watched this guy all the time when I was in NY in the 80's. He interviewed Fay Wray, Irish McCalla, the Ramones, Joe Spinelli-all sortsa folks!
Here he interviews Joe Spinelli!

I love Joe Franklin.

I used to watch JOE FRANKLIN in the '70s and '80s and his was a cool show, though I am partial to MIKE DOUGLAS (who had JOHN and YOKO as co-hosts for a week!)
I think I liked Joe Franklin better just because he had ANYBODY on his show. Anybody.
He would have a major movie star and ten have a local club impersonator.
Or Yvonne DeCarlo! Talks about the Munsters!

f**kin Soupy Sales! I remember that guy! He was on the Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead Show sometimes!
Or maybe it was 2 differnt shows on the same Saterday morning. Because they had all sortsa s**t on Saturday morning in the 60's.
soupy had his own show for awhile too, i remember my da cracking up over the scandal when soupy told kids to go in their parents wallets and purses and send him all the money, and thousands of kids DID! my momma was horrified, of course, but she had to laugh too, when my da told her that could never happen in our house. she asked him why not, and he said" bobbi, you don't let me have cash, and you keep a mousetrap in your purse, NOBODY who knows you opens your purse!" she did too, and i had that mousetrap for awhile to keep my brother from " borrowing" my change, lol! :twirl:

Yes, and it was incredibly popular. I watched it when I was a kid. When I was very young, I was afraid of Soupy's dog. It was just someone in a costume, but all they showed were the dog's arms. His body was always off screen. Scared the hell out of me.
