Humphrey Bogart stars as a ship Captain during WWII who is seemingly shell shocked and takes command of a broken down mine sweeper.
During a fierce storm, he loses his cool, and his first officer, Van Johnson, takes over the ship
This movie pulls you in all directions. At first-you think Fred MacMurray is the good guy-but no. He's a cowardly back stabber.
Bogie- who is supposed to be the 'Bad Guy',- does such a great job in his role- you hate him and feel bad for him at the same time.
A great performance by a great actor.
This is NOT a war movie. It's about human nature. Great film!

Good choice RC.
I got to give a shout out to Van Johnson too. He's stuck in the middle between his loyalty to the captain, and MacMurray's (pretty accurate) assessment of Bogie's mental state of mind.
But Johnson doesn't want to do it. He's sweating it out.
Dam! Such a good movie.
I thought THE CANE MUTINY was about a rebellion in an old folk's home this whole time! :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:
If you want to really be blown away, read the book. One of the best books I have ever read.
Great movie because of great performances.
