Despite reports that america's greatest living statesman has just died, I want to assure you all I looked into the matter and found that Barrack Hussein Obama is still alive and quite well.
OK, I know that the Cheeto in the White House makes James Buchanan look good by comparison, but Obama was NOT a very effective foreign policy President. Of course, I also know that this post is baiting me, and I shouldn't take the bait, but, whatever.
You are wrong, as you often are.
Moe Howard. Oh wait- he's dead. :bluesad:

An assertion made without evidence can be dismissed me it out consideration.
 I... I... aye aye aye...
On the other hand... Forum bait is amusing to read! :teddyr:
The greatest living American statesman is 1984 Meadow Party Presidential candidate, Bill the Cat.
But isn't he dead again?
What're you all tryin' to win Oscars?
I count myself as being one of South Africa's greatest living statespeople
I count myself as one of kansas' greatest mountain climbers.

Well that is pretty much all of your arguments screwed then isn't it? I mean how many times have you been involved in one, and then just stopped posting on that subject when someone has posted actual proof. I guess it would even apply to your OP in this thread.
Statesman is defined as "a politician, diplomat or other notable public figure who has had a long and respected career at the national or international level." Obama and Bush were both statesmen. Almost all Presidents are statesmen by default.
Indy, I think you're wrong on Obama. You may not have liked his foreign policy but he was very highly respected by his international peers. Here's some interesting research: http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/06/24/7-charts-on-how-the-world-views-president-obama/ (http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/06/24/7-charts-on-how-the-world-views-president-obama/)

Unintentional boasting here, since colloquially a Kansas mountain is Midwest slang for a grain elevator. You're not trying to say you've climbed grain elevators, are you?
Quotebut Obama was NOT a very effective foreign policy President
Obama was a very effective foreign policy president. though his "red line" remarks re syria were stupid, he at least had the decency to bring the idea of attacking them to a vote. of course, the idea was so universally unpopular it never even came up.
the Iran Deal was a masterpiece of diplomacy. besides all the checks and balances on irans alleged nuke program, it helped us in one very important way: to avoid a war and put the whole middle east thing to rest finally.
virtually all of our allies and many many more supported it
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_Comprehensive_Plan_of_Action
signatories included China, France, Germany, the European Union as a whole, Russia and the UK
it also had approval from Iraq, Afghanistan, Australia, Egypt, Pakistan, Canada, Columbia, India...
pretty much everyone in the world except the Saudis and their allies
it was blissful, for a couple of years.
Jimmy Carter. He's still alive. And doing humanitarian work for decades.

He's my favorite Living Statesman.

DAMN YOU RC! You have no idea how much I wan to applaud this post!
I agree too. showing support to the Palestinians showed actual courage. in the sense that he could easily have not done it and no one would expect it of him.
