QuoteThe star of the Syfy movie franchise is accusing the producers of the films of misappropriating her likeness and image "for a commercial purpose without her consent," including slot machines and alcoholic beverages...She is now suing Asylum Entertainment and SYFY Media Productions for $100 million in damages.
Quotethe defendants made "millions of dollars in profits ... from the marketing, sale, lease, and distribution of Sharknado slot machines bearing the likeness of Plaintiff Tara Reid

She'll need more than that to buy a part in a decent movie.
did you ever see Devil's Pond? but yeah she's jumped the shark no pun intended
Hey, Hwood is so damn serious about defending their copyright yet for years ignored the fact it was making tons of money off actors and not paying them a cent for it, like the cast of happy days sued over casino slot machines with their faces on them and no payments for it.
If she wins i think the money should be taken from her and put into education tho, in order to try to offset some of the damage to america's intelligence the sharknado movies did.
Wait... there were Sharknado branded alcoholic beverages?
I'd drink the hell out of a sharknado 40 oz
Not too bright, but what can you expect from someone who makes a series of films called Sharknado. My guess is that at the end of the day both parties will settle for something under $100 million.
Considering the budget of most Asylum films, I don't think they could pay even a quarter of that $$$ :buggedout:
It's all a part of the legal negotiation tactics. Start big, settle for less. The case is just bizarre, though. Sharknado machines??
Good god I just had a horrifying thought! How long before america is su dumbed down movies like snarknado get even stupider parodies of them made?!?!

It's already happening.
I present Exhibit A: "Piranha Sharks" from 2016

Note the "Sharknado" esque poster/cover art and the tag line "People Love Sharks!"
Yikes, maybe I should re-think casting her in Zombienado.

human-nado = sharks are attacked by swimming swirls of people in the water
Re Svengoolie 3 and FatFreddysCat:
Sharks, like dinosaurs, sell. With the advent of cheap crappy-looking inexpensive CGI and the glut of slimy sleazy entrepreneurial producers willing to exploit them, I'm surprised there aren't more of these types of movies.
Here is a short list of shark-themed movies I just created that are currently available to me on-demand via my cable company:
Atomic Shark (2016)
Bait (2013)
Dam Sharks (2016)
Nightmare Shark (2018)
Open Water 3: Cage Dive (2017)
Santa Jaws (2018)
3-Headed Shark Attack (2016)
5-Headed Shark Attack (2017)
6-Headed Shark Attack (2018)
Roboshark (2015)
Empire of the Sharks (2017)
Trailer Park Shark (2017)
Ice Sharks (2016)
Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda (2014)
Planet of the Sharks (2016)
Toxic Shark (2017)
Sharkansas Women's Prison Massacre (2016)
Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf (2015)
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009)
Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus (2010)
Avalanche Sharks (2015)
Mega Shark vs Kolossus (2015)
Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark (2014)
Land Shark (2015)
Psycho Shark (2009)
Raiders of the Lost Shark (2013)

Lavalantula (2015)
2 Lava 2 Lantula (2016)
I leave it up to the reader to determine which are godawful parodies of godawful films, and which are just godawful films in their own right. (I have never watched, nor ever wanted to watch, any of the "films" on this list. Who knows? Maybe some of these actually are good! )
That list is... disturbing. Funny, and yet still disturbing. Who on Earth are making these things, and what were they smoking??
The SyFy channel churns out a load of them.
