I was actually going to make my own taco seasoning today, so now I don't have to google. Thanks  :teddyr:

claws, all of these will be somewhat"flat", there isn't enough salt. if salt is a problem for you, you need to get some citric acid powder and experiment.

cool. if you ever do need to cut the sodium, try the citric acid powder, it's like, a wonder seasoning!   i get away with almost no salt in cooking by using it. that allows heart healthy cooking and hubby can salt at table if he thinks it needs it. took me over 30 years to get him to TASTE BEFORE salting, lol!

I love going into my favorite Indian restaurant a little early, before it opens, so I can watch them pound and grind all those wonderful spices they use. (And one old man there chants mantras as he does this, so he can infuse prayers into what he prepares.) It is one of the best smells and so cool....

one of the funniest experiences of my life was the first time i cooked with brad's SIL, who is indian. she wanted to learn how to make several mexican dishes from scratch, so of course i obliged.
she got all of my spices out of the cupboard and went to her suitcase and brought out her mortar& pestle. while she was getting it, i didn't know what she was doing, and i got down my electric grinders.
she walked in and asked what they were, and i explained how i use them to grind my spices, and which was which( i have 5 in florida) . her eyes kept getting bigger and her face was getting angry looking, i thought she was going to yell at me for cheating by not using the mortar i do have.
she stalked out of the kitchen and out the front door, pestle in hand, and WHACKED brad, then his brother, her husband, on the backs of their hands! and yelled, why didn't you ever tell me barri has electric grinders??? all these years i've hauled around this chuck of marble and broke my back grinding by hand!! you are BUTTHEADS!!!!
i fell out laughing, watching them try to make excuses! reality is they didn't know they were there, lol! neither even knew the cupboard over the fridge DOES have a working door on it, it was so funny!
