Peter Tork from The Monkees has passed away.
I always liked the TV show & music, so this makes me a bit sad. Don't know what else to say...
he got a bad rap in the catering world, imho. i met him and i thought he was very shy, but nice, not at all the grouch some made him out to be. once he realized i wasn't starstruck and just wanted to ask about what he'd like to eat, we got along fine. but then, i don't have a problem with changing a recipe to remove a person's dislikes either. i don't like sage either!
That's sorta the character he played on the show, shy but nice.
he had a rep as a" green room diva" when i reality he was just a picky eater. so am i, so i had no issues with it. far too many cooks think you shouldn't be able to request a change in a recipe, and that's just stupid. especially if you're only cooking it for one person. no sage in the herb mix? no problem. no onions? no problem. no mushrooms? no problem.
tradition doesn't matter to people's palates. and because i cooked the way they liked, we got a very nice thank you card for our wall of fame, signed by both davey and peter with a special note that said" thanks for the wonderful chicken, love picky pete" , i thought that was cool.
he really WAS much like his character, for sure.
Good night PETER. We all loved you best!
