random one, but I'm determined to finally ID this video game I played a few times when I was a kid in 1989, at the house of a kid who was a friend of another friend.
it was a light-gun based game, i.e. you shot stuff on the screen.
it seemed to be set in some kind of 1930s-era city, and you had to shoot mafia lookig gangsters who I think were wearing shades.
the main thing I remember about the game is if you shot these gangster guys once, they would develop little wings and float up the screen and disappear - but if you shot them again before they reached the top of the screen then they'd turn dead looking, and slide back down the screen.
ring a bell for anyone?
Try DEAD ANGLE.

ah, thanks!! you helped me find it :) it's actually not DEAD ANGLE but in the related videos when I searched for that on youtube was one called GANGSTER TOWN, and that's it. can't believe I never found it before, lol
if you skip to 1:30 you can see what I mean about the floating up/down screen thing when you shoot them
