Some actors are like ham.
Some are like bacon. They generally make anything you put them in better.
I saw that the Dr. Phibes movies were on comettv and recommend them to a friend and it just occurred to me to say they had Vincent price in them and that alone made them worth watching because Vincent price is like bacon, he makes most things he's put in better.
So I consider Vincent prince a bacon actor, what actors would you describe as a bacon actor?
I would agree with Vinnie- That's it's highest recomdendation. HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL is junk without Price.
Bela Lugosi.
Why on Gawd's green earth would anyone watch garbage like the APEMAN or the the INVISIBLE GHOST if not for Lugosi? Consider BRIDE OF THE MONSTER with one of Ed Wood's usual gang of idiots and no Bela.

But seriously, I agree with Price and Lugosi. I'd add Karloff. Jack Nicholson almost makes it, but he's been in some unsalvageable stinkers.
EDWARD G. ROBINSON
John Wayne, perhaps? I suppose that depends on how you view his politics... (I try to ignore actor's politics.)
Laurel & Hardy; MGM even borrowed them to improve The Rogue Song: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rogue_Song
Rodney!

When this guy showed up, hilarity would ensue.
"You were the inspiration for twin beds!"
"This is the worst lookin' hat I ever saw! Bet you get a free bowl of soup with it. (sees man wearing one) Oh, but it looks good on you though." (rolls eyes)
(asks little girl at a photo studio) "Hey cutie! How old are you?" 'This much!' (holds up 5 fingers) "Well, call me when you're this much!" (holds up 10 fingers twice)
lionel barrymore
sydney greenstreet
glynis johns
faith domerge(sp?)
Pam Grier! And when she co-stars with Sid Haig- that's icing on the cake!
Christopher Lee. He never brings a movie down.
The late Dick Miller was always a welcome presence when he turned up in a movie, even if it was only a short cameo.
LINDA DARNELL
To some of those mentioned, I'd add Willem Dafoe and, probably, Gary Oldman.
CHARLES BOYER
WILLIAM POWELL
Bette Davis!
And with Joan Crawford it's bacon and cheese!

I was thinking Karen Black!
And Bruce Dern!
NEBRASKA was great.
Dennis Hopper!
He even made Chainsaw Massacre 2 worth watching!

He was in an ep of "the outer limits".
Dwight Frye!
Where would DRACULA (1931) be without Renfield? Or FRANKENSTEIN (1931) without Fritz?
Elisha Cook Jr.
He's been in so many good movies- he's endlessly watchable-even in small roles! I mean,- the MALTESE FALCON, the KILLING, HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, BLACULA!

THE BIG SLEEP...
DEAD PEOPLE (Messiah of Evil 1973)...
ELISHA COOK JR. is in some of the best!
ERROL FLYNN anything he was in is better because he was in it.

I missed this response.
Not sure... I do know about it and I think TCM has shown it... plus I now can watch it at YouTube.
I read up on this movie, and I do think I've seen it... and it made little impression. I mean, though, I've seen that color sailing documentary of
ERROL FLYNN with his Dad the professor and I remember that better!
Cruise of the Zaca... I'll be watching that YouTube you posted... probably tonight!
Stymie Beard of the real old Our Gang series. He stole every short he was in. He wasn't there long-but he was the standout when he was!

Did I mention Barbara Steele?
When I was watching Cronenberg's SHIVERS I said out loud- "That's Barbara Steele!"
SILENT SCREAM (1979) on HBO in 1981 (first time I watched HBO!) I did the same thing!
I love Barbara Steele!

Geoffrey Rush can turn any crappy movie into a blast.
My vote is for Ned Beatty. Last week I watched the redneck action film "White Lightning" with Burt Reynolds, and Beatty was the best in the movie.
ERNEST BORGNINE
I always enjoy him.
J. CARROL NAISH
I watched much of him today in SAHARA (1943) and was reminded of his many fine roles.
This whole short film is available:
