I think people swho are tired of superhero movies hould spoiler the hell out of "endgame" as a protest against the saturation bombing of advertising we will be subjected to. I am SICK and TIRED of superhero movies, I don't watch them, I don't want to hear about them but you can bet I wonct be able to access any form of media for the next month without being assaulted with endless ads for endgame, Endgame, ENDGAME!!! The studios don't care if some of us are sick of superhero movies, we should openly defy their wish not to spoiler it in response.
Why should they stop? As long the money keeps rolling in, they will keep vomiting the same garbage over and over. I just ignore them and keep watching my b movies in peace.
I mean, I hate Game of Thrones with all my soul, imagine my daily life. Everyone's talking about that crap and I just have to be the weird guy saying "I don't like it". Just deal with it.
My son Eddie, who's 24, thinks it's the s**t!

So because you don't like it it's okay to ruin it for the people that do? That's a really childish mentality.

I can understand not digging them (they are a bit much), but why do you wanna ruin the fun for people that DO get joy out of them? Even on things I don't like, I'm happy for people that have found something that makes them happy. We need that. Your form of "protest" won't really succeed in what you want it to - the studios won't suffer. It'll only hurt things for some people that found a 3 hour escape from their crappy lives...

The Onion, as usual, has already foreseen this :D

QuoteBURBANK, CA—Emphasizing that losing even just a few comic book fans would be a "fate worse than death," Disney CEO Bob Iger admitted Monday that he and all his employees spend every waking moment consumed by the fear that you will one day turn on superhero movies. "Working at Disney? It's hell. Because I know that one day, you're all going to wake up and realize that you're sick of this Marvel sh*t, and you'll dump our sorry a**es and never come back," said Iger, adding that between the movies, theme park expansions, and television shows, Disney would go bankrupt almost instantaneously if consumer tastes changed even slightly.
"Every day, my heart stops when I see the box office numbers. How many more of these go**amn Avengers films can we make before the well runs dry? Thirty? Fifty? The bottom line is that the number isn't infinite, and frankly, that's terrifying. No matter how many run-of-the-mill animated features we sh*t out after that, it would never cover the losses."

This should serve as a reminder not to spoil Avengers: Endgame to people who haven't seen it yet. A man was reportedly beaten up by Marvel fans after he loudly revealed key scenes to people waiting outside a movie theater.
According to AsiaOne, the unnamed man dropped the spoilers outside a movie theater in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The man had just exited the cinema after watching Endgame. However, instead of keeping details from the movie to himself, he allegedly started yelling spoilers at people who were lined up for the next screening of the film.
Naturally, Marvel fans weren't happy with being spoiled right before their own viewing of Endgame and began attacking the man. Luckily, the mob was stopped and there is even a photo of the injured man being treated after the beating.

It's certainly a terrifying tale but most people are questioning the authenticity of the incident. After all, the picture may have been taken from a completely unrelated incident. However, several people confirmed what happened on social media, most of which claim that they were present when the man was shouting out spoilers.
Marvel Studios has already issued several warnings to fans using the hashtag #DontSpoilTheEndgame. The film's directors Joe and Anthony Russo even released a letter begging people who have already seen it to keep the details a secret so everyone could enjoy the movie.
The synopsis for Endgame reads as follows:
"The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios' grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame."
Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
You defeated your own purpose, as far as I'm concerned.
Now I DO wanna see it!
It can't be that bad! I might even LIKE it! :buggedout:

Your post could have just read, "I'm f**king tired of MCU movies. Can we get on to something else dominating mainstream hollywood, please?"
What you actually did write is antithetical to this board's basic values, IMNSHO. I've been here a long time... I'd say that a most basic tenet of BMDO's forum has been that we jokingly but don't really *seriously* bash each others' possibly atrocious bad taste in film. Joking swipes and occasional real donnybrooks do happen, but those are usually over stuff like Zardoz (something that really is just terrible, and good fodder for more jokes). But not this type of immature mean-spiritedness.
So just wishing that everyone would p**s on something that I love and that I've been pumped for, for a year... that's not cool. That's just plain mean. Way too much of that going around these days. Sven, can you see my point of view?
[Yes, I did decrement your karma. Quote, for being an a***ole, endquote.]
Good idea, Sven. You don't like something, so people should spoil it for everyone. Unbelievable arrogance and selfishness.
If they're tired of them, how would they know the plot to spoil it? Did they spend $20 & 2.5 hours just so they could spoil the movie? Did they go with some one else who wanted to see it? If so, the main person they'd want to spoil the movie for couldn't be spoiled, could they?
Every time I start to think you might not be a total jerk, you post something like this and prove me wrong.

how about you just find yourself a cave and crawl into it for a few years instead? you have NO right to screw things up for the MILLIONS of people who DO like those movies. grow up and get over yourself.

I don't agree with that at all. We have freedom of speech for a reason and I will never support censorship. Silencing opinions doesn't help anyone. When people like Sven make s**tty arguments then I believe that the best course of action is to call them out on their bulls**t.
However, if Sven posts spoilers anywhere just to p**s people off then I would be totally behind a ban since he's causing actual harm.
maybe my phrasing was bad, AJ, because that's what i meant. AND what he obviously plans to do. he can't do it here, since the folks here have mostly seen it and reviewed it, but i DO believe he would do it here too, if he could.

I haven't seen it yet. I have to wait for my dad to get back into town.
i'll likely never see it, but my bestie and his gf would be some of the people who WOULD be harmed with spoilers, they avoid them like the plague. i don't even tell them soap opera spoilers, lol!
mind you, i LOVE the 2 GOTG movies, and i've sort of seen some of the others when my bestie stays the weekend with us, i'm just not a huge fan. and i AM obsessive, i'd have to see them all first. not likely.

You and your dad are gonna love it. Like I do.
Okay, so I love the MCU movies and superhero movies in general, as I grew up with comics and still read them on occasion, decades after my childhood. Ironically, as much as I love the movies, I don't like the marketing for it. Nor do I like the endless marketing for Game of Thrones, Australian rules football, the cricket, the tennis, Married At First Sight, The Bachelor, Love Island or whatever else has the funding for mass marketing.
But you know what? I just deal with it. I tune out when I see anything related to something I don't like. And I've been able to avoid almost all spoilers for Endgame until I made the mistake of reading the comments under one YouTube video (F you commenter!). I'm not on social media and Badmovies is the only movie forum I go to. And when I post about a new film, I studiously avoid mentioning any spoilers, especially for much anticipated movies, because it's just good manners and considerate to others.
<Sarcasm>
Is spoiling this movie like spoiling Titanic? The ship sank at the end, and I'm sure the Avengers win at the end. Is it really a spoiler?
