Title: Werid movie ideas.
Post by: Svengoolie 3 on May 27, 2019, 11:57:47 PM
Ok, we all know there are weird movies, strange movies, movies with an artsy theme that follow a  "vision", etc.

Have you ever had any ideas for a weird movie, or artsy movie, etc?

I keep getting bugged by one that I guess I have to mention to get it to stop bugging me.

What if something happened and all the world's lawyers died overnight? No, seriously, what if just one morning POOF! No lawyers. No lawyers, no law students, no legal scholars. POOF! All gone.

I just can't help thinking about a movie dealing with how society, civilization, the world, etc would go on without them. I'm not saying "kill all lawyers" as even i admit some are good people, a few here and there. I'm just saying we hear we can't exist without them, what would happen to the world if they were all gone in a day? How would civilization adapt? What happens when normal people try to read and make sense of dense legalese? What happens if normal people literally cannot read legalese? How would business and government work? How would the legal system function? Would laws and contracxts have to be rewritten in understandable langauge, I.E. clear english? People had to communicate and negotiate with each other and not thru a team of sharks?

yes this would be an artsy movie i guess, certainly not realistic. (Maybe an actual "lawyer gene" was discovered and someone engineered a virus to target it specifically. I don't know.)

Ok, that's my weird movie idea, my art film idea. I think someone with the art film bent could make it and possibly make it an interesting art film. Anyone got one of their own?

BTW I got on the weird art movie bend after trying to watch a movie called "Enemy" that was a weird surreal art film involving giant spiders....

I couldn't get thru it, i ended up skipping thru most of it. It was just impenetrable.

Your lawyer movie sounds interesting. I think it could be done as a satire/comedy rather than an arty drama.

Too bad you didn't like ENEMY. That's my kind of movie. "Penetrable" is not a quality I look for in movies.

I think it would more likely be Y-rated

The Joker
As a middle aged man with a fully receded hairline, model prisoner, freshly paroled, with a huge backing from the ACLU, and his mantra is "This time, I'm the Good Guy!"

I don't know,  I see the joker as more of a MAGA hat guy.

But asides from that your idea has more or less been done as a comic a couple times. The joker has reformed once,  sincerely,  when he believed batman was dead. He changed his fade to a more normal one, adopted the name "Joseph Kerr" and even fell in love with a woman after getting a straight job.

Later batman returned and he was literally driven back to being the Jo! Er,  but he tried to kill batman as the onky way he could return to his normal life and woman he loved,  which he wanted to do after experiencing it.

In another series the joker claimed to have reformed and actually filed charges against batman for harassing him.

The first idea of the joker in essence giving up on his insamty because batman was no longer there to be his counterpart and actually going straight could be an interesting movie and make batman out as what din ides the joker to his madness.

But his new mantra would only be a wicked joke.
He knows Bruce Wayne is out there somewhere breathing out the side of his neck, while the current guy to wear the cape is the third or forth in line.....
The warden, his parole officer, they all know he's up to something, but he's playing it cool, knowing a huge monetary settlement is assured.

In the idea I have, he has a new case in which he was never formally arrested, rather, he was abducted by an anonymous masked vigilante (batman), and even though he was guilty as sin, he was never formally charged with anything, but tried & convicted on a case made up entirely of hearsay (Not even circumstantial evidence).
On the outside, he's well aware of the lower echelons of society getting fed up with being harassed by authority figures. This doesn't just include the corrupt cops & the strait cops, but they're also getting annoyed with Batman & people like him, who only seem to be on the side of the privileged....

And he's kind of old, knows he's on borrowed time, so he's he's doing some of Bane's steroids.

I picture him shaving off a green goatee to reveal his chemically induced sardonicus, then a montage of things going from normal  to strange, solemn to playful, his disease turning to a real grin as Sweating Bullets by Megadeth plays in the foreground.

Heh heh, good reference to a bad movie* worked cleverly in there.

Ok here's another weird oe for ya, but in all fairness it;s not as weird as one that was actually made recently.

The movie "look who's back" featured an impossibly healthy adolph hitler falling thru an impossible wormhole into modern day germany. It was a social political comment on how germany tries to forget hitler and the nazis and assure themselves "it could never happen again!" and how that mentality makes it possible for it to happen again.

Well, my slightly less weird idea would be called "the trial of adolph hitler."

Basically a weird machine is found in a hidden nazi installation ll  eft over from ww2 in the modern day, and it turns out to be a cryogenic chamber with uncle dolf in it, still alive. He's revived and basically placed on trial.

The issues would be who has the right to try him? Russia suffered more deaths at the hands of the nazis than any other nation. Do they get dibs? What about Israel? Also what about the german people who suffered because of him?

Then how do you hold such a trial? Would it be publicized? What happens to the universe when allen dershowitz literally breaks the speed of light rushing to become hitler's lawyer? Based on what we know, would hitler even be competent to stand trial?

But what if he lands in one of the Muslim controlled ghettos?
Antisemitism in Germany has been on the rebound over the last few years.

You might enjoy a novel from the 1970's entitled THE TRIAL OF ADOLF HITLER by Philippe von Rjndt.  I read  it in high school and it made a deep impression.

Damn,  I should  have guessed someone would do that. Was it set in the 40's?

Btw Indy I hope you saw "look who's back" because it was a good movie and definitely in the artsy surreal category.

It makes not an iota of effort to explain how an impossibly healthy and fit hitler simply drops out of the sky over the site of the old bunker in modern germany. That's an intentional refference to how inexplicable it is for Nazism to be rising in germany today.

Ok for a serious, social commentary art film I would  make one about a near future society in Britain about the constant video surveillance system that they have there. A number of people simply grow tired of the constant surveillance and try to avoid it, only to be subject to even m,ore intrusive surveillance in response. People begin quitting jobs and moving to remote areas to live subsistence farming lives to avoid the surveillance of the cities. Authorities send in people to put up cameras which are torn down, guards are posting who are assassinated. Finally the communities are destroyed by MOAB bombs to protect society from those who were clearly threats to it.

A heavy handed film about the big brother mentality, and the unwillingness of modern society to tolerate dissent in any meaningful form plus the willingness of government to use any means to force submission. It would also look at how a state can go into an absolute fanatical frenzy where anyone refuses to submit to something it decrees and can say with a straight face that a group of essentially powerless people who finally didn;pt want to live under it any more and even removed themselves from it were a "threat" and "forced" the all powerful state to destroy them.
