104 bond villains ranked and analyzed. I was happy that some of my favorites we're pretty high on the list and NY favorite made the number 2 spot. Some of the analysis' of the villains we're pretty thoughtful and thought provoking, especially Lechiffe. See how your favorites measure up.
*Does not include villains from the comedy version of casino royale, so woody allen's dr. Noah is not ranked here.
Speaking of bond villains , it's a pity Orson welles never played a bond villain in a serious bond movie. His blofeld could have been awesome.
I didn't agree with all the rankings (but then again when do you ever agree with all of them on these things.) Still, it was an entertaining read. It's been so long since I've seen some of those movies, I had forgotten a lot of them.

glad you liked it. the analysis of the villains was interesting. I never really saw lachiffe from casino royale as what he was really portrayed as until i read this. I was too impressed by his torture scene, which really deserved comment but didn't get any. (One thing i've never understood is all these elaborate forms of torture. It's the simplest thing in the world to cause a man more pain than he can endure.)
GOLDFINGER has Goldfinger of course, and Oddjob!
I'll agree with Lee!

I think Vincent Price should have been in a James Bond movie. Price would have been perfect during the Moore era.

He did get to play a Bond-style villain in the spy spoofs
Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine and its pseudo-sequel,
Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs, at least.
He was in a kinda horror-secret agent movie I can't remember the title of but he was trying to create superior humans and ended up being dissolved in acid by Christopher lee..
Someone naming the movie in 4... 3... 2....

Well thank you! I am a jerk! :drink:
Speaking of bond villains which do you think was the strangest or most complex character.
I have to say Silva from "skyfall". Sure skyfall was one long ass movie so silva had more time to become a complex character in. He also was very ambiguous in some ways, as his playing "gay chicken" with bond suggested.
He was also a total bastid, as his cold murder of the woman in the shooting gwme shows.
Yet he had a human side. He did not murder bondcs groundskeeper, even asked him to please not make him do it. Despite his hatred for M seeing her injured seemed to make him feel sad.
He was a clearly very insane villain, a twisted character but not a simple one. After seeing him the rebooted blofeld was something of a disappointment.
All in all not a typical bond villain and a memorable, if extremely creepy, character.
