Title: Alone in a theater?
Post by: Svengoolie 3 on July 17, 2019, 01:05:49 AM
Ever been alone in a theater while watching a movie?

I have. One occasion was blade runner 2049. I was the only guy in the theater.

Kinda creepy. I mean we've all seen the blob,  right? I usually sit up front so I can hope if it came thru the projection booth I could run out the front fire exits while it's  eating the people in back it took by surprise

But when you're the only person in the theater all you can do it hope the projectionst manages to scream before he's eaten.

And my local theater is in awful shape. It's run down and ratty. Kinda makes it spooky.

I tend to try and watch movies towards the end of their run so I generally manage to get to see them with just whoever I have went to the cinema with.

This has happened to me a few times.

Reservoir Dogs: just me and the projectionist in a student run theatre in 1994.
Rampage (the monkey one)
Halloween last year.

I'm quite a loner and a solitary person but viewing movies in a cinema / theatre is and should be a shared experience and you should interact with each other and the film.*

*Although preferably not if you're in a porno theatre  :buggedout:

You are missing a possibility for interactive movies there Trevor.

Back in the 1970s, my best friend and I went to see FUTUREWORLD. I remember that it was early in the week (Monday or Tuesday) and we went to the dinner time show around 5:30. We were the only 2 people in the theater.

a few years ago I had this experience of being one of maybe handful of people in a theater in a handful of times:

I'd be the only one there a little early, like 10 minutes before hand that way I can sit where I want --- everyone else came in a just before the previews

I was at a theater on William Flyod Parkway, on Long Island, I think, with my brother Glenn, and we watched RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD while drinking gin and smoking pot. There was about 5 people there. Me and Glenn were 2 of them. It was early in the afternoon-when most decent people wer'e at work.

A few times.  I think the last time it happened was when I saw one of the Resident Evil movies.

I went with two friends to watch "Spiceworld"  We got blizted before...and the plan was to get drunker during the s**tty movie.   My friends passed out 5 minutes into this garbage while I kept conscious and out drank them.  We were the only three in the theater.   But after they passed out, I was technically alone.

Dude, you went to see Spiceworld in the cinema???

I wish I had seen Spiceworld in the cinema

Possibly the most empty a theatre had been was when a friend and I went to see Doom (2005). The only other people were a couple of teenage girls up the back. They threw chocolate coated hazelnuts at us, but I told my friend to ignore them, and they stopped.

No  you don't wish that. I wouldn't wish anyone to see Spiceworld anywhere. on a train, in a plane, with green eggs and ham..
