I had absolutely no idea this movie existed until I saw the poster for in on fb, and even tho I binged it to make sure.

I just can't imagine why they made it, and according to the people who saw it and survived the cgi monsters we're far worse than the songs in costumes they used in the original.

Rabid Dogs 1971 - Cani arrabbiati) is an Italian film directed by Mario Bava, starring Riccardo Cucciolla, Don Backy, Lea Lander, Maurice Poli, George Eastman and Erika Dario. Taking place largely in real time, the film follows a trio of payroll robbers who kidnap a young woman and force a man with a sick child to be their getaway driver, all while trying to avoid being caught by the police.

An adaptation of the Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine short story "Man and Boy" by Michael J. Carroll, Rabid Dogs was a departure for Bava, as its emphasis on realism sets it apart stylistically from his colourful horror films. Following three weeks of principal photography, producer Roberto Loyola declared bankruptcy, resulting in the-then incomplete film being shelved due to his ownership of the rights. Rabid Dogs remained unseen for over two decades, but following an acquisition of the rights by Lander, it has since been released on home video in multiple versions, with various scenes being partially re-shot, added or removed for continuity. One of these versions, titled Kidnapped, was supervised by Bava's son Lamberto and his colleague Alfredo Leone.

A Franco-Canadian remake of the same name, directed by Éric Hannezo, was released in 2015. (wikipedia)

I do not want to say anything about the plot.. it honestly would spoil the fun. It takes so many turns (not just literally)  This movie blew my mind.

^ I saw it a couple of years ago.Not the usual gothic Bava film. Great movie too, by the way. And it's got George Eastman!

I'm reminded of MofoRising's brilliant quote about AFTER LAST SEASON.

"This movie makes no sense. I don't mean the story doesn't make sense, it almost does. I mean the movie as a thing that exists doesn't make sense."

They made a sequel to Manos with several of the original cast members.

I don't even recall the names- so bad.  :bluesad:

Best was in the original KILLER SHREWS. He's most famous as the dimwit deputy on the DUKES OF HAZZARD TV show.
Davidson is best known as the guy with the rats in WILLARD (1971).

RC,  I think I've finally figured it out. You're not really a human being, you're a massive computerized movie database that attained sentence,  self awareness and full consciousness after an incident involving a lightning bolt, a movie fanatic watching old movies at his computer wearing a headset and a jar of non dairy coffee creamer,  aren't you?  :bouncegiggle:

I don't drink coffee.
Only tea and whiskey.
I don't own a headset.
In fact- I'm very low tec. I don't even own a cell phone.
I know about movies because I own over 40 film books, and have been reading about  horror films since 1970.  And watching them. Long before forums and the net. Yeah, I know- I was 8.
I know I'm weird- but I just remember things.
Maybe I seem like a nitpicker at times, but this IS a MOVIE forum, and I try to be accurate if I know something to be false or a misconception. I ain't trying to pick on anyone- just set the facts straight.
Pennywise seems like a nice guy. But he has much to learn, Grasshopper.
If you want real nitpickers- go to the Classic Horror Film Board.
If you think I'm anal retentive about movies- these guys are real butt plugs!
Nice folks for the most part- but brutal if you f**k up on movie facts.

Oh come on,  you know I was joking about your incredible film knowledge. And no,  correcting an honest mistake isn't nit picking.  Even on a board like this your kmowlefrew of movies really stands out.

I remember tcm occasionally did interviews with "notable" film fans,  some of whom were  not famous.  Honestly,  they should do a special on you.

And you  know there's like a grillion film review and discussion channels on youtube,  so grab   a camera and a mic and get your piece of it. You could do a cool film youtube channel, especially if you  got a cape and made yourself up to be "Uncle Bela".

"Uncle Bela's classic film channel". Hey, you can start a youtube channel for free,  you know.

I am sorry if I offend anyone when they f**k up about a movie, but I'm not trying to be mean.
But It just seems important to me to get the facts straight. One of the thing's I love- old movies are one of them. Because I'm weird like that.
If you get s**t wrong on a Dr.Who episode or STAR WARS- I would have no clue.

I've never thought you were being a prick about movies. Again your knowledge  of films is just astounding. It's where I got he notion of you actually being a massive movie database computer that attained consciousness somehow and was now pretending to be a human movie fan.

If people make a mistake about a SF movie I'll correct it because SF movies are my thing. You just have an encyclopedic knowledge  of a far larger movie field.

i call myself a movie geek and i think all of us here are movie geeks and that's not a bad thing either, my favorite band of all time is The Beach Boys and i know a lot about them but i don't know everything. it's simply amazing how well some people know that band's history WOW it even amazes me, i also correct people if they get a title wrong or a flim synopsis for example. or an actor/actress whatever if i know the answer or i will just say screw it and look it up myself before i correct that person.

i love a number of various things that i'd like to think i know on some things a lot about but i don't mind it if people correct me if i'm wrong either, in short don't worry about it man we all are like that when it comes to stuff we love may it be movies or books, comic books, music etc... you get the idea

in short no one's perfect so don't worry about it
