Title: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Post by: chainsaw midget on September 08, 2019, 08:24:35 PM
I just got back from watching this movie and I highly recommend it.

Despite a PG-13 rating, it manages to actually be a lot scarier than many R-rated movies I've seen lately.  it does a wonderful job at building suspense.  While it does have a few jumpscares, for the part part it seems to want to lure you into thinking they'll be a jump scare and not delivering it and you just keep waiting, building tension until they finally do catch you by surprise with something else.

The movie does a wonderful job at translating those weird creepy images from the book.  The Pale Lady in the Red Room is an especially disturbing sequence with all the logic of a nightmare.

I think this could easily be a Halloween classic in years to come.
