Title: My Brilliant Career
Post by: ER on September 12, 2019, 03:22:30 PM
I liked the realism here, how it didn't show idealism improbably flourishing, it left its main character in the sort of situation about which a cynic might say, "Yeah, told you so."

Let's face it, for every person who chases her dream and sees it pay off, there are many who fall flat and still others who get a facsimile of what they thought they wanted, only to discover it wasn't what they imagined it would be. Rather like my tennis career.

The moral here? Conform, don't try, squash all ambition, and if you're a woman, say yes to the first good-looking man willing to support your skirted ass.

What, isn't that what it was supposed to be about? Determination and female empowerment.... Huh? Oh, okay, nevermind then.

On a scale of one to twenty spinsters, I'd rate it twelve old maids.
