Did you know there was a new Critters movie? I didn't know there was a new Critters movie. Why doesn't anybody tell me these things?
It just came out this year apparently.
It's not bad. I have to give them points for using what appears to be pure practical effects and no CG work. That helps give it an authentic 80s feel. The plot and actors also have that straight to VHS feel to them. The movie is never really great and never really clever, but the fact that it exists at all is amazing. It's worth a late night watch.
yeah, I noticed this on dvd in my local HMV a while back and, as a big CRITTERS fan (well, the first 2 anyway) I was surprised I didn't know it existed. might have to check it out, my hopes are not set very high though
I've seen it around, but I have fond memories of the old ones and no wish to spoil them if this turns out to be a travesty.
it can't possibly be worse than the 4th one... that one was a new level of boredom I didn't know existed
I remember the first 4,well 3 of them. Somewhat mildly entertaining. Gotta look up the new one.
Looked it up. Sounds awful.

I kind of liked it when the wimpy guy said "Things change, Ug. "
I was aware that they were "remaking" the saga but I almost never pay attention to those scams. Since you said it's made with practical effects, I may give it a chance. I can't even imagine how bad a CGI critter would look.
I love all four movies, mainly because they use the same actors. It gives a very nice sense of continuity which is not very common in cinema, particularly crappy horror.

If you love practical effects try "harbinger down".

Dee Wallace is in the movie. She now goes by the name "Aunt Dee" but it's clear she has history with the Krites and it seems obvious "Aunt Dee" is just an alias.
I saw this! I'm actually a little proud to say I have seen a "new" movie! It was a bit of s stray from the older Critters movies, but entertaining enough. I could have done without animals being killed, but I supposed that's expected of a Critters movie. Prepare yourself with some tissues and cuddle your pets a little closer tonight if you plan to watch.
simulated animal killing I assume? I just watched MOUNTAIN OF THE CANNIBAL GOD which has completely ridiculous actual animal killing in it :bluesad:
I feel like I'm going to end up buying this, but I don't want to. must resist...

You can't resist.
Give in to the darkside.
oh. alright then
If you think about it, that conversation was pretty much half of the STAR WARS saga.
I've seen more critters movies than star wars movies... my badmovie credentials are intact
yeah I bought it. watching it now... it's, erm , watchable?
reminds me a little bit of TICKS, atmosphere wise. It's also making me feel old.
the critters don't talk which is odd. they look good though, altho the kills are a bit meh. also don't understand the point of the sub plot about the 'Bianca' critter, which actually looks more like a gremlin.

What? No I didn't!
Oh man! I can't wait to see this, 4 existing movies plus a new one? That's 10 hours (give or take) of Critters! Weekend, you've just been planned.
Oh, I just found out there's a TV series?
