Stumbled upon this scanning the channels before the football game. Gotta say I'm enjoying this cheesy 70s movie.
Anyone else seen it? Opinions?
I've seen it. I like the ending where- ah- I won't spoil it!
I like it too. It's fun.
Count Yorga, and The Return of Count Yorga, are hella fun. Originally conceived as a softcore movie, Robert Quarry only agreed to star in the film if the softcore elements were removed. Quarry was tipped to be the next Vincent Price, but an unfortunate downturn in popularity of horror movies stopped that. If only it had happened, we would have seen some great movies from Robert, and maybe he wouldn't have suffered later in life the way he did.
I first saw Count Yorga in late 1990 or early 1991 on late night TV. Back in those days, if the name of a movie looked promising in the program guide, you set the video recorder and hoped that it would pay off. And in the case of Count Yorga, or 'The Loves of Count Iorga' as it was known in Australia and in the original softcore title, it did indeed pay off. Around that time, one of the local channels in Australia screened all the old Universal horror movies, like Blood From The Mummy's Tomb, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Count Yorga and Invasion of the Bee Girls were more recent parts of the late night festivities.
Since then, I've bought the DVDs of the movies, and watch them semi regularly, maybe once every year or so, along with Enter The Dragon, Lifeforce, The Man With The Golden Gun, and Blade (Wesley Snipes).
love both movies at the drivein during my teen years, love the dvds, and i STILL have a small crush on the honorable( or not) mr. quarry..

Yeah, Robert Quarry was awesome in those movies! Although I was quite enamoured of Donna Anders.
