I am about to clean undies.............. no, far more serious and possibly life altering.
A post has been advertised at our department, that of senior film curator and I will be applying for it soon. I can't not apply and then pray that I get the job so for the first time in almost 30 years, I will be applying for another job.
All I have to do is dust off the old CV, chase away the rats, spiders and dust off the cobwebs and I should be good to go.
Good wishes and good vibes are what I need now: the post closes on Friday.

I must add that the rats, spiders and cobwebs are on me and not on my CV.
Best of luck, Trevor. I hope you get the job if you want it, and I hope it brings you happiness.

Thanks ER: I do want it and after almost three decades doing this, I still have enough fire left in me to do something else, other than just answering enquiries.
Good luck, Trevor. Obviously I don't know who the other candidates are, but it's hard to believe they could find someone more experienced and dedicated than you.
Best of luck Trevor although I am sure you won't need it.
you got this brother T. i have faith!
good luck Trevor
Thanks, special peeps: I chased away the spiders etc and submitted my forms so all I have to do now is wait and hope for an interview call.

It's been almost a month since the post closed: I haven't heard a thing, no calls for interviews, nothing. :bluesad:
sweetheart, there is bureaucratic BS red tape involved, i'm sure, and the holidays getting in the way too. DO NOT get discouraged until you know somebody ELSE got the job, okay? i'm keeping the faith!

Well, I got an email an hour ago and I go for my interview on the 20th February at 12 pm.
This calls for a suit, tie and reasonably clean undies.
You go get it!
G'luck, Trevor. Be yourself and they'll love you.
Consider luck wished.

Thanks Ronny: only thing is there are affirmative action laws regarding employment here so I might not get past the interview stage but I'm glad they included me as a candidate at least. If I get it, my salary will almost triple.

It was really tough: what with some gotcha questions - I didn't expect those - and other things, I'm very sure I crashed and burned. :bluesad:

I was just this evening thinking about you and how you were doing with this situation.
Hey, if you got the position, your employers will be getting a great employee, and if you didn't, it's their loss and I refuse to believe anyone else they interviewed was more qualified.
Don't fire til you see the white of their rejection notice. You probably did better than you think you did.

Thanks Ellie.
My other two colleagues who also applied complained about the questions posed which had sweet bugger all to do with the job, like "Name the stages of filmmaking."
1. Pre-production.
2. Production.
3. Post production and release.
  Nothing to do with film archiving in general.

Maybe stress questions, to see how you respond to the unexpected. Also, if you found the interview hard, you can take some comfort in the fact that the other interviewees probably did too.
that's what i was telling him, since i always had those kind of questions when interviewing.
Four months later, I still haven't heard a thing.
If it helps any Trevor, my personal record was waiting 6 months to hear about a job.
