Title: American Ninja (1985)
Post by: ER on November 21, 2019, 01:23:33 PM
I was honor-bound to watch this with someone in high school with the result being that I think I lost a little bit of visual acuity as my eyes tried to shield my brain from having to process this. Someday a film historian is going to base his career on studying Reagan-era action movies, and I'm sure this one will be front and center, but t'wasn't my cuppa tea, I guess 'cause I wasn't a teenage boy.

Out of a scale of 1-5 death punches to the throat, the opponent ducks the blow entirely.

Aw. This was some grade A cheese back in the day. I love how the villain ninja has a laser for no reason.

Aw man, so many good bad movies from that time. American Ninja was pretty fun, if memory serves me correctly. For the sake of historical completism, I bought the DVD's of those movies some years ago, but haven't got around to watching them. The first and probably last time American Ninja was in the late 80s anyway. Must make some time to watch the collection I've built up.

Numbers two through five were made in South Africa and I knew the director of 3 and 4 well. Some great cheese.

Where are you men going?
To kick ass, sir.
Kick ass?
Yessir.
Take my car.  :teddyr: :teddyr: :bouncegiggle:

My sister brought American Ninja to my attention. I was a horror fanatic back in the day, so this Cannon film wasn't exactly high on my list of movies to watch.
It was pretty kickass and had the right amount of cheese. I'd label it as a good bad movie.
