The version I saw in 1981 made no sense whatsoever: 149 mins of over the top WTF moments.

Who the f**k are you hanging out with? Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the most popular comedies of all time.
I don't really know any movies I like that are universally disliked. I can name movies I like that get mixed reviews from critics (Like Antichrist) but I can't think of one that absolutely everyone despises.

it's my understanding that specific edition of the film was edited to s**t by the powers that be against the wishes of Michael Cimino
the Criterion Collection of Heaven's Gate is a director's cut of 216 minutes
yep, I hear ya guys... idk, everyone I know thinks its corny lol.
I still love it...

You should read the book Final Cut by Stephen Bach: Michael Cimino delivered a cut of the film almost a year late which ran for 325 minutes which the head of United Artists described as being beautiful and unwatchable. :buggedout:
I loved the Jean Claude Van Dame Streetfighter movie. Not just for Raul Julia either. I thought the whole thing was a lot of fun. I also enjoyed the Super Mario bros movie.

Had a great time watching this at the theater. I didn't know it was so much disliked until I got Internet a few years later.

I pretty much like all the Jurassic Park movies.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the only one I'd call approaching bad, but I appreciate it for trying to take the series in a new direction. Plus the Gothic Horror but with dinosaurs part in the third act was kind of cool.

I haven't watched much of
EYES WIDE SHUT, but I can't stand
RYAN O'NEAL and I
LOVE BARRY LYNDON. Could it be 'cause they're both
STANLEY KUBRICK movies?
the mexican movie called santa claus, the one with LUPITA! i can drive people out of my house late at night with that one, lol!
Everybody seems to hate THE NUMBER 23 but I loved it, I think it's one of the best Carrey's movies, and a great mistery with a twist ending, much less predictable than other films.
RED DRAGON, while generally considered a good movie, it's widely regarded as inferior not only to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, but also to MANHUNTER. Personally, I think it's better than both.
I also inmensely enjoyed CONSTANTINE and LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN.

It delivered exactly what I wanted, over an hour of fairly well-done traditional FX.
Eraserhead
Welp, since it has been mentioned a lot lately, THE PHANTOM MENACE, definitely my favorite Star Wars movie.
Perhaps nostalgia plays a lot because it was actually the first I've watched, and in the theaters no less. I remember when the special editions of the original trilogy came into existence the whole thing saw a huge revival in the 90's, but I didn't gave a flying f**k until Episode I came out.
Can't say Phantom Menace is my favorite Star Wars movie, but it's not as bad as most say. The flight through the planet core, pod race, & duel with Darth Maul are cool scenes. Spaceships looks slick. Alien designs are creative. Also, there was still a lot of traditional miniature work mixed in with the CG. Even the trade federation's big space stations were, if memory serves, actual physical models.

David Lynch instantly scares people away, and I don't blame them. I've only watched
BLUE VELVET and I hope I never have to see anything like it again.

Napoleon Dynamite, Friday The 13th Part VIII, Rosemary's Baby, Spider-Man 3 (although "love" may be too strong of a word for that one).

Pretty sure
NAPOLEON DYNAMITE has sorta of a cult following, so it's quite loved by many. I personally tought it was kinda lame, gave it a 6.

I haven't met a person that actually hates Rosemary's Baby, unless you mean the TV remake.
Showgirls.
I loved it the first time I saw it. I love it even more after every viewing.
