Title: HARRY AND TONTO (1974)
Post by: Allhallowsday on January 12, 2020, 11:22:54 PM
HARRY AND TONTO (1974)

I watched it tonight on TCM.  It's a wonderful character study, a movie about relationships.  Great performances.  I'm older than ART CARNEY was when this film was made!  Of course, he was young for the part!   :teddyr:

Tonto looks very much like my own boy, who is about the same age as the character but paler, a little bigger boned, not cross-eyed, and with a shorter tail!

I seen TV ads for it back in about 1976- like on the Late Night Movie or something, but I never seen the movie itself.

I have it on DVD. Good movie and certainly more original than most movies. Art Carney's performance was very good, but I'm convinced he won the Oscar for sentimental reasons rather than actually being the best actor that year.

I don't disagree.  He was up against some major competition...
