Title: The main characters died but in the end they find themselfs as cats/dogs? again

I have been trying to find this movie from my youth.
The only thing i remember is that in the end there were 2 animals, dogs or cats. And the other one jumped in the
air of the surprise that they found each other again. ( they were previously humans but died )
This movie was around the 80s i think.

Fluke was a wild guess, just to get the ball rolling. If I remember right, it ends with a dog meeting a squirrel, who was itself a dog earlier in the movie.

Could also be "Oh Heavenly Dog," with Bengi. Going by Wikipedia, the ending sounds closer. (Not seen all of "Oh Heavenly Dog.)

"Bart is arrested when he tries to shoot Browning [Benji] but accidentally hits Jackie instead as she sacrifices herself to protect the dog. Although Browning is miserable over Jackie's death, he is overjoyed to be reunited with her when she returns to Earth as a cat."
