Title: Russian Ark
Post by: ER on March 24, 2020, 09:38:21 PM
No matter how many times I see it, it still amazes me. One continuous shot, telling that story? Also just the idea of time versus space boggles my mind. In the same space, the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, all those events over 300 years happened, but time comes in as the extra dimension and separates them, though they are all there, in that same location.....it seems a ponderous meditation to remove the curtain on time and use only space for the basis of a story, celebrations, tragedies, hardships, triumphs, all there, and time is not a divider anymore. I am really awed by this movie.

It is an awesome achievement, but not something I'd want to watch often.

I went in with high expectations and found it a bit too much style over substance for my liking.
