I did the PB&J Sandwich thread, so why not a grilled cheese thread. Here we go:
- preferred bread?
- to butter or to mayonnaise bread slices?
- oil?
- preferred cheese?
- mix of cheeses?
- shredded or sliced cheese?
- sliced cheese: how many slices?
- do you press down the sandwich with a spatula?
- horizontal cut or diagonal cut?
- do you do the cheese-pull?
- special ingredients? (tomatoes, pickles, ham, kimchi, etc)
Used to be a place were my uncle would get me a grilled ham & (American) cheese on rye...
Or maybe it was wheat...........
May've started asking for tomatoes at some point, but I don't quite recall...........
I've did a few chopped salami grilled cheese sandwiches, and they are actually quite tasty:
1. roughly chop some salami
2. dice a few cornichons
3. mix salami and cornichons with shredded cheese of your choice, 1 ts soft butter, 1 ts mustard, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper.
4. spread mixture on bread and low heat fry about 6-7 minutes per side or until golden brown.
I don't like sliced tomatoes or any kind of sliced meat on my grilled cheese because I always pull out a superhot slice of whatever out the grilled sandwich when I take a bite. Diced is more suitable for grilled cheese.

Honey wheat bread from Hy-Vee.
Spread margarine on each side of the bread.
Cooking spray on the pan.
American cheese.
No mixes.
Sliced - 2 slices
Yes I press down.
Diagonal cut.
What's a cheese pull?
No special ingredients.
Takes me about five minutes to do up a sandwich. I usually have one or two a week for lunch. That's one thing I like about working from home due to the pandemic is having a full kitchen nearby for when the prepackaged stuff isn't what I want.

Oh I see, thank you. No I don't normally do that when having grilled cheese sandwiches.
Shredded cheddar on white bread, baked in the oven. Perhaps with butter, pepper, garlic, &/or onion.
The perfect grilled cheese is one that has a vague unintentional image of Mary, Jesus, or Elvis burned into one side, so you can unload it for major ducats on eBay.
