Christopher Lee! Herbert Lom as Van Helsing! Klaus f**king Kinski as Reinfield! How can you go wrong???
Jess Franco is how. It claimed at the time to be the most loyal to the book version made. Perhaps in some ways it was. As in talky, long-winded, artsy fartsy , may take days to finish s**t. Don't get me wrong! I enjoy artsy fartsy s**t when it's done well like some of Jean Rollins crazy ass movies, but Franco....this is the man who gave us OASIS OF THE ZOMBIES and ORLOFF AND THE INVISIBLE MAN. Worst are the constant zoom shots. Zoom in! Zoom out! At one point the camera is just focused on a bedpost. A bedpost. It's like the camera man just forgot what he was doing and went to light a cigarette. Kinski just sits around in the corner of a room. There is NO energy in this movie at all. I've sat on a lake by myself in a rowboat fishing, not getting a bite for hours-and there was more kinetic energy being generated.
Yeah- COUNT DRACULA sucks.

some years back i watched this i thought it was decent. Lee himself said about this film it's the closest to the book in any of the films he was in when he Played Dracula and that's why he did this film.
