Title: RIP Kurt Thomas (Gymkata)
Post by: claws on June 06, 2020, 09:41:43 PM
American Olympic gymnast and actor Kurt Thomas passed away 06/05/2020 at the age of 64. No cause of death is listed.

QuoteThomas starred in the 1985 film Gymkata as an athlete sent by the US government to compete in a deadly competition called The Game. The film earned Thomas a Razzie Award nomination for Worst New Star and was poorly received by critics, but has developed somewhat of a cult following due to its unintentional comedy. Thomas also starred in the syndicated TV series True Confessions and has worked as a commentator for ABC Sports and ESPN.

RIP: I think it would have made him smile to know that I saw Gymkata in one of my two hometown cinemas in 1986 and the screening I was at was a full house. Great film.

I discovered GYMKATA thanks to this site and actually enjoyed it. I like to imagine Kurt going to Heaven through a long stair while walking with his hands the whole way.

I'll always remember Kurt walking up stairs on his hands, or fighting on an pommel horse that was inexplicably placed in the middle of a backwater European town square. RIP.

Yes, that was one of those "where were you" moments; that moment when we all caught an accidental surprise glimpse of Kurt Thomas' balls.  :buggedout:
