QuoteJoel Schumacher, the writer-director who came from a world of window dressing and costume design to bring a singular style to films including St. Elmo's Fire, Flatliners and a pair of Batman movies, died Monday. He was 80.
Schumacher died after a yearlong battle with cancer, a representative announced.

It's sad, that that's what he's going to probably be best remembered for, although a lot of what he did was under studio mandate to make the franchise more campy and kid-friendly, so they could sell more toys.
Looking at his filmography, Joel had some good movies under his belt. I liked
Falling Down and
Phone BoothR.I.P. Joel Schumacher. May you enjoy an eternity of never hearing fan boys complain ever again.
At least he apologize for BATMAN & ROBIN, other directors wear their garbage proudly.
RIP
I actually liked Batman and Robin. It felt like a big budget update to the old Adam West show.
I don't know why people make such a big deal out of the nipples on the suit either. It's not like they really stand out when you're watching the movie.

Y' can't miss 'em.
I saw
BATMAN AND ROBIN new in the theater. It's not great, but silly fun. He said something to the effect of why wouldn't you put nipples on the batsuit?
I thought
BATMAN FOREVER was better, though there used to be a clip at YouTube where
JOEL SCHUMACHER did assert that
"VAL KILMER is an a$$hole..."Good night
JOEL. You made films we'll remember.
