Title: Employment Assistance Indifference
Post by: LilCerberus on July 08, 2020, 05:18:43 PM
So apparently, after I had my stroke last October, which actually wasn't the problem, Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services and The Choice Group decided to put my case on hold, not because of The Wuhan Virus, even though I was able to go out & get a part time position that had me doing pretty much the same thing I was looking for in a part time job, until of course, I got an bad ear infection, followed by the shut downs.....

It's frustrating to someone like me, when you try to be patient with a group of bureaucrats for two years while they tell you you're not smart enough to do what you do, then when your turn comes up, they tell you you're not healthy & strong enough to do what you're doing, at least not for pay...

Honestly, I hear a lot about consistency, persistence, ETC., but the more I reflect, the more I truly believe I'm being held back.

 I feel ya, man.  :bluesad:
I had to wait 4 years to get my SSI. I had 4 heart surgeries. If it wasn't for Tiana and my kids, I'd be dead.
Welfare did nothing. They gave me a food stamp card and said-"Good luck!"  :hatred:

Yeah, I kinda recall the day you said you got that...
Sounded good... Felt good to find out...

I've got SSDI & my parents, & my mom's 81, & my stepdad's about to turn 100.
I've been trying to get back in the game for years, not just do some crap that anybody else would get paid for.
It's just the state & the town I live in were going through another stage of reopening this week, so I followed up with these people again, and I got the same damned thing I'm always told, that I'm just no damned good, no matter what I'v accomplished.

I tried for years to get a professional job as a cartoonist- and I did draw a strip for the local paper for 10 years. But I really wanted to draw horror comics. I even meet with that b***h who ran National Lampoon and Heavy Metal. Simmons was her last name. She never called me back.
I should have lied and said I DID graduate high school. Ah- f**k it.
My life has not been any better no matter if it was a Democrat in office, or a Republican. In my opinion- they are all milkers. And we are the cows. When the milk goes dry- we're useless.  Put out to pasture in a desert.
It's a good thing I been living poor for years, I guess! I'm good at it, now!

Entertainment can get pretty cliquish.....

I've got a cartoonist & VO friend named Kieth Van Allen whom I keep inviting to this forum...

I mentioned his two books in the Pimp Yo S**T thread, but he also worked for Disney for a number of years, where they screwed him on Courage The Dog, and he also created Chester Cheeto & still does story boarding for some local ad companies.

He's come forward with some really good scripts, but people won't get behind him because they don't think much of him.
Meanwhile, these same people keep jumping in lockstep behind people who have proven time & again that they really don't know what they're doing.
