Hey folks!
What do you do to get yourself in that happy, content place after work or just to relax? A program to watch? A beverage/food on hand? Musical accompaniment?
List as many ways as you like.
Me personally.. I like to just plop down in my easy chair with a glass of iced Coke, and fart around on the internet. Answer emails, post topics on various sites, make YouTube videos, play old video games, etc. Or go take a power nap on the couch or bed. Or real late at night, maybe jump into the hot tub with the lights and jets on and drink a PBR or something (a rare time for me drink). When the virus restrictions get lifted, I'll go back and do karaoke.
What ways do you like to unwind and be in your happy space?
I turned the back section of my room into an unwind zone, separated with a tall open shelf. There's my PC, a comfy chair, my multi-colored wellness mood light and an aroma diffuser. It is kinda trippy but pretty cool.
At my old job I used to ritualistic order a pizza on Friday after work, just to celebrate the weekend. Haven't done that in years since I'm working shifts now.
A warm bubble bath in winter is another fave to unwind.
After a working day I work out--swimming if it's warm enough--then I try not to do any work afterwards. Eat dinner, read the news. In the evenings I watch a movie or a TV show before bed and have a drink most nights.
On Fridays after the workout I do my grocery shopping for the week, pick up some fast food, and watch an MST3K episode before bed.
Spend a day on the river or lake, looking for fossils and arrowheads, preferably with a friend or two.
I like to sit back and read a book while listening to music and maybe drinking a beer. I don't browse the internet if I want to relax as I tend to go to political/scientific debate forums.
Read. Listen to music. Watch an old movie. Smoke weed. Cook-out. Build model kits.
Play with the dog. Mow the lawn. Sit in the yard and listen to the radio and drink whiskey. Jerk off. Order pizza. Pick dirt out of my naval.
I don't bother anymore.
It's too much work.

No, it all just got too frustrating & usually blew up in my face, so now I'm just a lazy @$$ bum...
Physically: Invest half an hour hitting tennis balls against the side of my house.
Mentally: I read a dictionary.
Spiritually: I go alone into the woods and feel the energy.
But I can achieve all three by being with my family.

You don't understand words or what?
Oh, welcome back ER!

You really are wound up bad. :bluesad:
i cook, and watch completely non political stuff. i recently binged through all of rupaul's shows that i could access, now i'm hooked on aussie cooking and reno competition shows.
if it's been a fiercely bad day, i pan fry bacon low and slow until it's so crisp it shatters while watching some kind of anthology show, or some of the advertising shorts i collect and smoke a bowl, have my mini cocktails and a couple of beers while eating most of the bacon i'm cooking.
Kristi is watching Bar Rescue. I could imagine you sitting shouting at the screen with that one Barri and some of the kitchens in those bars.
oh god yes! and some of those owners i just want to bichslap into next week when they try to deny the problems.
My (least favourite) was the "All in!" guy.
Oh! The bar I used to live by was on that Bar Rescue show! The Abbey Pub, later called The Abbey. I could see that place from my attic back window. My uncle still lives there. Another one of my uncles and cousins lived in the apartment above the Abbey Pub until the early 90s. I am pretty sure that uncle was a regular there and friendly with the original owners. I don't think the Bar Rescue helped them out very much. The lettering they put on the outside literally started falling off maybe a month after it was put up and then a fire in 2015 caused the place to close down. I know it's been closed for a while but I heard they were planning to reopen with new owners and a similar name.
How do I unwind? I fantasize about quitting my job.
very few, if any, of these bars( or restaurants on other shows) benefit from being on tv . the notoriety is a challenge to trolls, and the business ends up overwhelmed, gets terrible rating AGAIN, and closes. it also hurts the career aspirations of the GOOD employees who actually tried to help, simply because they DID try to help. when the ship goes down, the crew takes the rap too.
I walk. And walk & walk & walk. Sometimes I run.

Build model kits.
I loved building model kits when I was a kid. I could go to a local toy store (or even the news store) and buy one. Back then most of them were only about $1.99 or $2.99. I had all the Aurora monster models, plus other stuff from Star Trek, Lost in Space as well as tanks, planes, cars . . . I'd like to build a few now.
Couple beers, some music, hang with a few friends while playing games or skateboarding.
