One of my all-time favorite bad movies. Even when this movie came out 31 years ago when I was a sophomore in high school, I could tell how badly that this movie sucked...and yet I kept watching it for some reason.
I've never seen ROBOT JOX, but Amazon Prime can be a feast for bad movie lovers. The first movie my watch group watched together was HUMAN LANTERNS.
Robot Jox is really a classic of bad movies. It has a few stars who would go on to do quite well, one or two that were on the way out, and a super-cheesy premise. The writing, direction, and production aren't bad for the budget. It actually deserves a bigger-budget remake.
Bad-but-good movies that deserve a remake are my kink.

I had always considered
Pacific Rim (2013) to be about as close to a
Robot Jox (1990) remake as we were ever going to get. The whole training sequence and fishing for rookies thing in
Pacific Rim (2013) seemed to me as an obvious homage to
Robot Jox (1990). The rest of
Pacific Rim (2013) beyond that homage was just big robots fighting wannabe Godzillas to me.
I think I still have a Prime subscription at the moment. I almost burnt out a VHS copy of Robot Jox from the video club from overuse when I was a kid.
Who doesn't love a robot with a chainsaw emerging from their crotch?
