This song was a "call and response" work song in the Johannesburg gold mines and it came to national prominence during the 1995 Rugby World Cup tournament here.
The song gives me chills, thrills and a few tears as well as does the memorable fly past Ellis Park by the great Captain Laurie Kay and his team: he threw that Boeing around in the air over Johannesburg so seemingly effortlessly, like it was a model aircraft. People who were present said that with the flyover and the downdraft, the entire Ellis Park stadium shuddered.
