OK, after seeing that trailer, I am going to have my eyes surgically removed :buggedout: :buggedout:
I couldn't even take the trailer.
WTF???
What cocktail of madness was that???
(https://i.imgur.com/n65Ls2Y.gif) (https://lunapic.com)
how can a 2 minute trailer drag so much
That looks SOOOOOO bad!
Their list of "the toughest action stars in the world" leaves a lot to be desired.
I'm reading the cast list and thinking "Have I even heard of any of these people before?"

Cynthia Rothrock was the Queen of Martial Arts in the 1990s

Her signature movie is Undefeatable (1993). All her films are bad, but at least she got to show off her crazy good martial arts skills.
Gary Daniels has an impressive resume of bad martial arts movies as well, but just like Daniel Bernhardt he never crossed over to mainstream like Jean Claude van Damme did.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. That looks charming.
And the acting..... Is. So. Natural to... how people. Speak.
So, they took a bunch of low budget action stars & tried to cast them in a dullarama????
DeCoteau made 22 movies in this house, including Santa's Summer House
(https://i.imgur.com/Jvkoxzjm.jpg)
1807 Latigo Canyon Road, Malibu, California
I can see why DeCoteau is still making movies.
He just doesn't care they all take place at the same house :bouncegiggle:

Huh? You're kidding?
Uhmmmm, so, does anything "happen" in this movie, or do they just sit around the living room talking????????

Okay, Cynthia I actually did recognize. I've never seen any of her movies, but I have heard of her and knows she did a lot of martial arts stuff.
Looking at Cynthia's IMDb page I'm surprised that I actually rented more of her movies back in VHS days other than Undefeatable.
Undefeatable (1993)
No Retreat, No Surrender 2 (1987)
Martial Law (1990)
Martial Law II: Undercover (1991)
Coincidence? RiffTrax just announced a running commentary for Santa's Summer House for free on their YouTube channel. Premieres Dec 14, 2021

Is that his own house?
If so... makin' no budget trash pays WAY better than I thought. :D
I don't believe it was his own house, but he was allowed to film there. I think it was sold recently.

Apparently it was in foreclosure.

I took the reactions of you guys watching just the trailer as a challenge...
Your reactions are underselling how bad even the trailer is. The one thought that kept up in my mind the whole three minutes of the trailer is that these are the best parts of the movie they are showing us to sell the movie...right?

Having worked on as many films as I have, yes, that is exactly what they do with a trailer. :teddyr:

Are they trying to sell it to us or are they trying to warn us?
"Cynthia Rothrock was the Queen of Martial Arts in the 1990s" I would definitely dispute that
this looks amazing. any remember that gary Daniels movie where he went from being shot at from a helicopter to somehow taking over the helicopter? the most insane action scene of all time imo

Is "Rage" perhaps the movie you're thinking about?

Who do you think was the queen of MA in the 90s? Rothrock was in the most movies featured on Cinemax by a long shot, at least.
Cynthia Rothrock ? 80's- yes. 90'? I would say Lucy Liu.
I know this clip is from 2003- but Lucy Liu is #1, for the 90's.
http://youtu.be/OLvz5E61UNs (http://youtu.be/OLvz5E61UNs)
1970's- has to be (for me), Angela Mao.
Lucy Liu? She did supporting bits in 13 movies in the 1990s, none of them had anything to do with martial arts.
trevor - that must be it. quite a feat
rev- I guess. I never got into American martial arts movies. my roots are strictly HK
If they made a sequel titled SATAN'S SUMMER HOUSE with the same cast and crew- I'd watch it!

I'm sure your right. I don't know all that much about martial arts movies
I actually broke down and watched the whole thing during December.
All I can say is....Thank god for "Brain Lubricant"!
