I'm getting a new job up in Minnesota in a couple weeks. The job is going to be in Bloomington, which is a suburb of the Twin Cities. So I'll be moving up there after the New Year.
Congratulations, I hope it is an awesome experience for you.
Kinda chilly up there! And I live in Michigan!
I bet it's gonna be fun!
Best of luck in your new job and the new year!

I can deal with the cold. It's not too different than Iowa most of the time. Even when not that's why I'm gonna put having covered parking high on the list of needs for my new residence. I was talking to a realtor this morning up there and she asked me about parking and laundry.
I'd rather have in unit laundry but told her I would consider shared laundry if it's set up where it's in the same building and I don't have to keep several pounds of quarters around to do laundry. I don't want to do the laundromat experience again like I had when I got out of undergrad 20 years ago. And with parking I told her about my vehicle situation so we can try to get something where I can plug in each night.

That's something that I hardly ever have to worry about

Back in that apartment complex I first lived in they had a laundromat on the complex but I wound up taking my clothes to my parents most times. It was just such a hassle to come up with enough quarters to do several loads of laundry and the laundromat was some distance away. Even back then I kept hoping that they'd get with the times and do away with the need to have a whole s**tload of quarters as by then machines where someone could use a prepaid card were starting to become available.
congratulations

I close on my condo Friday. It's a nice one bedroom place that's almost 800 square feet. For someone like me that's a decent sized place for the next several years at the least. I don't know that I'll be there 30 years - especially if I find someone to be Mrs. Sprite up here in the Twins.
Because I was not a "fussy buyer" the previous owners are leaving the couch, kitchen table, and some kitchen utensils behind. In addition to the appliances. Odd thing about the laundry is that it's an all in one unit that does both washing and drying. I'm curious to see how that's going to work. Sounds like that would be nice in that I could dump a load of laundry in the morning and have it washed and dried while at work then come home and have it ready for folding then.
A law school classmate helped me make a Costco run today so I got enough paper of the toilet for the next year or so, a bed in a bag, and some towels. Once I can get some stuff brought up from Iowa - towels, clothes, TV, etc - I'll be set. Just need to find a bed, dresser, and maybe a TV and stand too. Not sure about the TV and stand. I might try to get my family to bring my 43" tv and stand up sometime soon.
TMI time - I'm thinking of getting another Tushy bidet (https://hellotushy.com) for up here to cut down on the amount of paper I have to use. Haven't decided whether I want the hot water feature or not yet.
It's exciting moving into a new home. Be safe and well!

Yeah you gotta be careful because tushy dot com by itself leads to a very, very, not safe for work site. I was at a brewery when I got curious about the tushy bidets and typed tushy dot com in and found out I should have looked it up on google first. Fortunately I was able to close the browser before anyone saw it.

Oy, I just went there. What has been seen cannot be unseen 😳😁😁
The new job was not what I expected so I'm leaving it on the 22nd. I got a new job that starts on the 23rd working at a staffing agency as a support person for a law firm client. I'm hoping this is the one that'll turn into something more permanent. At least with this new job it's 100% remote for now and even when they have people work at the office again they're thinking it wouldn't be every day and instead be a few times a week.
The combined washer / dryer is different. The dryer cycle is a lot longer and doesn't dry clothes as completely as a regular dryer does so one has to let the clothes air dry for a bit. Plus one needs to let the drum air out between wash and dry cycles. Going to go with it but if I ever see a good deal on a dryer I might eventually pick one up since I still have an outlet in the laundry room for a dryer and use that instead.
Oof that's brutal but kudos to you for already having another lined up right away! I'm still looking for a new job from the one I haven't even left yet!
I have heard that there are lots of people that don't dry their clothes with a dryer and prefer to hang them and it can save money on utilities. I think it's common for even small apartments/homes in Europe to have a set-up in the kitchen or something to line dry clothes, at least that's what I've seen on TV. I personally don't know if I could go without a good dryer. Especially in the winter, the feeling of putting on hot underpants straight out of the dryer is like the body equivalent of eating chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven.

That is a feeling I've never experienced
