Title: A Christmas Carol (1984)
Post by: Ted C on December 26, 2021, 07:06:35 PM
Got in a viewing of this classic on Dec 25th. It's made for TV, so it's low budget in many ways, but they managed to get George C. Scott, David Warner, Edward Woodward, and Susannah York. The music is over-dramatic at times and sometimes the sets look like a stage play, and it often seems the director is more used to directing for stage than television, but George C. Scott is just killin' it so hard that little things like that are easy to overlook.

Easily my favorite Christmas movie. 10/10

Oooh... whole thing on YouTube https://youtu.be/r1vMnZ0AhYE

Also currently available on Hulu.

This version gets a lot of press as being the best of all time.

I won't disagree, although the "Muppet Christmas Carol" also has a huge following.

Miss Piggy's performance, sensitive. Very sensitive.

I love the George C. Scott version. Bought the DVD a few years ago and watch it every year.

There are many versions of SCROOGE: A Christmas Carol, and many are lame.  There's a few good ones.  There are TWO great ones.

GEORGE C. SCOTT is one of two great versions.  His interpretation is a delight.
