I watched The Hollow Crown, which I got for my birthday last week. This is a project that was made for TV, I believe, but each installment looks like a feature movie, has casts more associated with big budget movies, and has the run-time of cinematic films. They were great to look at as long as they're taken for what they are, dramas, and not history.
Immoral Beloved, which I saw years ago and thought well of but this time it seemed like it was pandering for acclaim.
White Heat, from 1949. When you're on top of the world there's only one direction you can go. I think of this movie as Reservoir Dogs' grandpa. (And apparently Madonna---remember her? --- is obsessed with White Heat.)
Spirited Away, and it still makes me feel like my drink's been spiked.
