Title: The latest TCM.
Post by: Alex on February 23, 2022, 05:01:29 AM
Has anyone here watched the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre yet? The only good reviews I've heard so far have been from gorehounds praising the increasingly brutal kills. I am just wondering if anyone has anything else good to say about it. It isn't something I am planning on watching any time soon, I'll most likely see it on some streaming service some years down the line and decide to give it a watch.

They should have left that film alone after the '74 version.

I liked the '86 sequel. Glad they went for a totally different style and tone rather than trying to remake the original. Any of the ones made after that I couldn't care less about.

I haven't yet but since it's on Netflix I probably will get around to it sooner or later. TCM has always been my least favorite of the "big" horror franchises, so my expectations would be extremely low anyway.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) is a masterpiece.  The sequels are sh!t as far as I'm concerned.  Efforts to recreate the tone of the original CHAINSAW were most closely realized with HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES (2003) which is still a rip-off, over stylized sh!t (though vastly improved by SID HAIG's presence.

I found Sid Haigs absence from most the third House... movie very jarring. He was the best thing about the first two.

I watched the new TCM last night. It was "a'ight," as my fourteen year old would say. I've never been the biggest fan of this particular franchise so I kept my expectations low, which worked in its favor. The gore hounds will dig it.
